Having qualified in 1981 at Guys Hospital, I spent my early professional career in the Dental Branch of the Royal Air Force. Their ideals were to advance the professional training and promote the ethos of providing the best dental care possible for our patients. I served mainly in the UK but had several months in the Falkland Islands, 3 years in Hong Kong and 2 months in Cyprus on the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron during the first Gulf War.
I passed the Membership examination of the Royal College of Surgeons in General Dental Surgery in 1992 and, having been in the RAF for 16 years, I decided that as I was enjoying General Practice Dentistry it was time to buy my own Practice rather than becoming mainly an administrator.

Crowns are laboratory made restorations that fit over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, adding strength to the top part of the tooth. They are often used to protect heavily restored, broken down or root canal treated teeth, or to re-establishing the natural shape and appearance of the tooth. Crowns (or caps as they are sometimes known) can be made of a variety of materials including gold, porcelain or a combination of metal and porcelain.
I have used the services of Richard Plowman and his staff for just over a year and I can give them all nothing but praise. Whether it be a simple filling, or having root canal treatment, I end up falling asleep in the chair. The treatment received is beneficiary and of the highest class and I personally would never consider going anywhere else for dental treatment.
The Gurkha Welfare Trust is the leading Gurkha welfare charity. It was established in 1969 when it was realised that a great many elderly Gurkha soldiers and their dependents were living in destitution in Nepal. Many had served in the Second World War; however, they had not served the 15 years needed to qualify for an army pension.
Nyewood Dental Practice are delighted to have co-sponsored the Royal Veterinary College Ladies Hockey teams with bespoke Mouth Guards in the College's colours. In conjunction with our co-sponsor, Felpham Dental Ceramics, we have provided the players with custom made, close-fitting mouth guards. Wearing a mouth guard will help to protect their teeth from the impact of a hockey ball, a hockey stick and/or horses hooves.

Excellent … I would highly recommended Nyewood Dental Practice. I have personally found all staff to be extremely professional and very friendly. All treatment I have received from Dr James Pugh and his team has been exceptional. Having felt less than happy with my teeth for most of my adult life, Dr Pugh took great care devising a personal treatment plan, discussing and explained every step with clarity. He is nothing short of a perfectionist. He takes total pride in his work and carries out any required procedures with total expertise and dedication. The results of his hard work are stunning

After bad experiences of dentists in my childhood, I was reluctant to even make an appointment with a dentist. However sometimes you just have to bite the bullet .I am so glad I chose Nyewood Dental Practice.
They are so professional, yet friendly with it. Nothing is too much trouble, and everything is explained, from treatments needed, to costs.
Nyewood Dental Practice have restored my faith in Dentists, and now I wouldn't think twice about making an appointment
