Five comfortable and well-equipped self-catering cottages (sleeping from 2 - 6) set in glorious countryside on the Shropshire / Herefordshire border just seven miles from historic Ludlow. There are country walks from the door in all directions and we are pleased to welcome pets and children.
Mocktree Barns were once a set of farm buildings, but have been converted to provide five distinctive and individually furnished cottages situated around a south-facing courtyard. We live in the adjacent house, once the threshing barn. We are actively involved in promoting green tourism and we garden organically.

The properties are set in an acre of grounds with panoramic views towards Ludlow, the Clee Hills and beyond. The Downton Estate surrounds Mocktree, with direct access for walking provided by a network of public footpaths. Visitors are welcome to use the courtyard garden and play area. All of the cottages have a wealth of exposed beams and stone features.
This is the largest of the cottages and originally housed the donkey gin for driving the mill wheels. Downstairs there is a comfortable lounge/dining room looking onto the courtyard and the countryside beyond. Upstairs are a double and two single bedrooms as well as a good-sized shower room with washbasin and toilet.
This pretty cottage provides ample accommodation for two and has delightful views towards the Clee Hills and south over the garden and neighbouring farmland. Downstairs there is a beamed open-plan lounge/dining kitchen with an old kitchen range (for decoration only!) and wall hung TV. The refurbished kitchen is fully equipped for up to four people.
The grinding room of the mill was once here, but it is now a cosy cottage of charm and individuality. The entrance faces away from the courtyard and offers privacy as well as easy access to the parking area. The half-glazed stable door faces west; an added bonus to take advantage of the afternoon summer sun.
These adjoining single-storey cottages face south and open directly onto the paved courtyard. They originally housed the farm carts and animals but now offer more comfortable accommodation! A door opens into the double bedroom which has an ensuite shower room with washbasin and toilet. Both cottages are equipped with grab-rails in the shower room.
