We thoroughly enjoyed a one night stay with dinner and breakfast included. Beautiful hotel, with stunning views and grounds to wander around. Our room was lovely, really spacious and very clean. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic too. Look forward to returning in the near future.

Wonderful few nights. Check in was quick and easy. Room was cosy and comfortable. Restaurant staff were quick and friendly, food was very good, breakfast excellent. Lovely to sit around the open fires. Gym small but has enough to work out. Museum worth a look. Grounds great for walkers.

It was fine. Our room was spacious. The grounds are gorgeous. The food was ok. Biggest negative is that this location seems to be a popular stop for charter bus tours. A couple of different tours with retirees came through during our stay. Took away from the charm but otherwise was a solid 3 stars.

Very disappointing . No porterage, not being given the accommodation requested,no fridge or mini bar. The bedroom suite requested was not provided, floor creaky, wardrobe door would not stay closed. The hotel tried to overcharge us on a number of occasions
the staff seemed to be aware of this when challenged.
The hotel staff were made aware that this
was a special occasion ( our golden wedding anniversary) this was spoiled by the hotels treatment of us.
We will definitely not be back and would advise anyone to avoid this place.

Met close but distant family there for lunch we had a lovely afternoon the food was excellent. I would like to congratulate the management on their choice of waiting staff we were in the Stags Head lounge area it was busy only one staff member in attendance serving the bar taking meal orders and waiting on tables, she was amazing in a friendly cheery manner. We were a vegan, gluten free and eat anything crowd she coped with 12 of us + 6 kids from 4years to 15 years with aplomb well done that girl.

I had booked this hotel as Birthday treat, on arrival we were met with beautiful grounds and an idyllic old building, so far so good, we visited the bar, bought a few glasses of wine and charged to the room, unknown to us it was £11 a glass, for very average wine. The food was well below par, beef and roasted veg/potatoes were dry, and hard, the pudding was no better than school style, custard slapped into the bowl, second night fish was overcooked. The breakfast was poor, overcooked, eggs were solid, and just messy and lacked quality.
The room was a double and was basic and not at the level

Beautiful hotel and lovely surroundings,
We stayed for dinner and breakfast over 3 nights. We had a beautiful room in one of the corners of the building. Amazing views.
I have noticed some people commenting and moaning about creaking floors in the hotel.
Please remember this hotel is over 100 years old the building is stunning and has alot more character than most modern hotels.
Can't wait to return .
