Otter Valley Ice Cream and Field kitchen, certainly is an exciting place to be, and we absolutely love what we do. The new building, which replaces the summerhouse, marks the start of a new chapter for Otter Valley. Beneath the oak trusses high overhead, walls of glass allow you to experience panoramic views of the unspoilt Otter Valley.

The valley nestles in the Blackdown Hills, which have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the same time, the restaurant is highly accessible, being just off the A30. This road is known as the Gateway to the South West, as drivers head from London/the South East towards Devon and Cornwall.

Located in Devon in the beautiful Otter Valley & Blackdown Hills, Otter Valley Field Kitchen is a small family business based on our fourth generation dairy farm. Our handcrafted artisan ice creams and sorbets remain at the centre of our success as we strive to make ice cream how it should be - smooth, creamy, full of flavour and irresistibly indulgent.

Our gelato style ice cream is made from scratch, only ever in small batches, it's full of flavour and irresistibly indulgent. Our flavours change on a seasonal and rotating basis - making in small handmade batches allows us to be creative with our flavours, keep an eye on our Facebook page for our weekly special.

Menu Report

Homemade sourdough breadsticks, slices of Lonza, Coppa, cider chorizo, fennel salami and Draycott salami from a local charcuterie, alongside local Brie and goats cheese. PIZZA - Our sourdough pizza bases, are handmade in our kitchen everyday - slowly proven and then hand formed. Paired with the finest san marzano tomato base and the best local ingredients.

Fabulous lunch. Incredibly convenient heading home on A30 from Devon to Wiltshire, but we'd have happily gone out of our way not to miss this gem of a place. Reasonably priced, very delicious, comfortable chairs and cosy atmosphere. I'll def be back and this time with a cool box so I can stock up with ice cream - as good as I've ever slurped 😋

Wow! I think this is probably the best breakfast I’ve had for a while. We especially liked the gourmet hash browns and quality sausages. I needed a doggy bag for my toast as the amounts are impressive!! Very warm welcome from friendly staff too. Thank you.

Quality everything. Favourite breakfast of anywhere in the UK. We visited here 3 times in 4 days whilst staying in Devon eating breakfasts, pizza and ice cream, all of the highest quality.

Milkshake made with their gelato tastes amazing. Sandwich was tasty but not much to it. but looking around the pizzas and sausage rolls also look really good.
Service was good and they have a nice view too.

Great little place for a coffee or full english, or even a delightful icecream or a scone, tell you what just try everything! . Wonderful and fresh. Great parking, lovely views, lovely staff.
