Smith & Son, at 74 Station Road with printing works behind, was founded in 1923 by Basil Smith. The photograph to the right shows Mr Smith, with his mother, standing outside of their shop in the 1930s. In the left hand window is a range of writing and drawing instruments, postcards and general stationery, whilst the right hand window is devoted entirely to a large range of cigarettes and cigars.

The shop closed in 1951 but local printers Smith & Son still operate from the original printing works at the rear of number 74, embracing modern technology, whilst continuing their traditional policy of friendly, professional service. The business is still today run by Mr Smith's Son Alan and Grandson Philip who between them have over 85 years experience in the printing environment.

Within 24 hours of my enquiry and a flurry of emails between us, this super-efficient company managed to produce 200 flyers to my spec and even re-do the artwork for me! An outstanding and professional delivery of service. I would have no hesitation in using/recommending these guys.

I have used Smith & Son for twenty years for all my clients' print requirements. As a graphic designer, I expect my work to be printed to a high standard, competitively priced and a quick turnround. Smith & Son achieve that criteria for Polo Graphics.
