St Mary's Inn and B&B, near Morpeth in Northumberland, is about warmth and generosity whether you come to eat, drink or stay: friendly hospitality, flavoursome food, comfortable bedrooms. Big and inviting - colourful spaces, cosy corners, real fires - we're a relaxed, informal Northumberland pub, hotel and restaurant.
But with a passion to make you feel at home. Always interesting, definitely sociable. The focal point of a new community which is currently being developed, we serve honest-to-goodness food and beer - no tricks, no fuss - with a distinctly Northumbrian flavour. And if you want to stay over, we have 11 country-style bedrooms, too.

Services
A student bar-job in Newcastle, where Robin was studying architectural technology at Northumbria University, started an unplanned career in hospitality and led, 16 years later in 2018, to the General Manager role at St Mary's Inn. The atmosphere, the buzz and the sociability of pubs and bars were, he confesses, a bigger attraction than technical.
Modern tables and wrought-iron bedsteads mix with well-worn antiques - perhaps a Victorian wardrobe or Edwardian desk - while bathrooms are roomy and well-lit. Bright throws and curtains add a dash of fun. With different shapes and different outlooks, many have high ceilings; one has a terrace. There's bubble bath in the bathroom plus we have a great-value children's menu: three courses for 6.00 (Sundays, two courses for 5.00).
Always hearty and generous, alongside Pub staples, we've more ambitious food - perfect for occasion dining. We've wines by the glass and the bottle and ales by the pint; so, come as dressed up or down as feels comfortable. Alongside pub staples, our Restaurant serves more adventurous food - with daily specials, perfect to pair with wine.
Weddings are about celebrating your union with the ones you love the most. We're not stuffy, prim or proper; we're relaxed, fun and friendly - somewhere where everyone can let their hair down and celebrate.
We've a pretty exterior - perfect for pictures; we've 2 versatile, private spaces - accommodating daytime and night time celebrations alike; we've 11 cosy bedrooms - so, you need not drive home; we've food to satisfy one and all - from pub favourites to our more sophisticated dishes; and we've a fully-stocked bar - so, there's no excuse for anyone not to dance!

Private parties for up to 20 people can be held in this light-filled room in the heart of the building with its eye-catching beams, huge windows and wood-burning stove. Named after the building's Victorian architect, George Thomas Hine, the room is big enough for guests to sit around one table plus it has its own sound system.

Just been for 4 Christmas lunches with two good friends, all equally enjoyed. Well worth the money, around £25 each, that was lunch, dessert, coffees and tea along with drinks. New owners have made a beautiful job of decor, menus both Christmas and normal have a lot to offer. Staff very polite and very pleasant, next time we may take our pup with us as it's a dog friendly pub.

Came in here for a 70th birthday meal. We chose this place because when we looked on their website, the menu looked varied and reasonably priced. To be fair, the prices were pretty good. However, on arrival we were given a choice of 2 limited menus. My wife and I and our kids are vegetarian, so this left us with a choice of 2 dishes for mains - both pastry based. My wife didn't fancy either, so ended up having soup, veg and mash. When we asked a staff member, we were told that as of 1st December, the menu had changed because of Christmas. It would have been useful to have been informed when booking

Much improved since the new owners have taken over. Staff attentive and pleasant. Service was however a bit slow for lunch time, although is was reasonably busy.
Lunch time menu a bit pricey and portions were not that big, but were well presented and tasty. Good choice of drinks also available. Would certainly go back for lunch or evening meal.

From past experiences St Mary’s Inn would have always been a first choice, not today: whilst our friend and my own choice of main course were acceptable my wife’s choice of Breaded North Sea Haddock with triple cooked chips and mushy peas was certainly not? a frozen fish portion most definitely, poor quality frozen chips most definitely and peas she could barely get her fork through probed to be a major disappointment and one that would make us think twice about returning, such a pity because the ambiance and character of the premises are excellent, and ending on a positive note the service
