DLA are primarily a structural engineering office, offering comprehensive design services, we regularly work closely with other construction industry professionals and can therefore arrange a host of building, engineering and engineering services on your behalf. Used for a loft conversion which fell into pre approved planning with the council. All initial drawings contained measurement errors, planning notification had missing information then had to be submitted twice. The load calculations on the loft floor were also messed up costing the builder an order of bespoke unrefundable beams and us 25cm of headroom requiring us to change direction on design. A clumsy effort really on something small and easy for a company like this

Avoid. Company charged us for work without properly consulting us re the price. Bully tactics then followed making us pay. What company can undertake work without a written contract or consent then charge and threaten court when the bill is disputed? They gave us a price and said everything was included then doubled the price after work was completed. Unfortunately the bully tactics worked so I’m sure it’s something they regularly do. Awful experience, zero customer service. A reply will be forthcoming no doubt but it will just add to their ‘company bullying the consumer’ reputation. If

I used Derek Lofty & Associates recently to provide structural designs and load bearing calculations for a kitchen redesign. I needed a quick turn around and they provided exactly what I required, at the agreed price, well within the time constraints I was facing. The calculations included in their report provided me with total confidence that we were ok to knock down the walls we needed to. Very impressed with the service. They are now creating designs for my new front porch.
