Built in 1860 by a local businessman, Brook Meadow - as it was originally known - is a striking early example of Tudor Revival architecture from the period. In 1900, the chapel was built and incorporated into the main building. Brook Meadow remained a private residence until 1968, when it was leased to the Order of Franciscan Monks who used Brook Meadow as a training school, converting the two stables into dormitories.

Fabulous place to stay . Lovely staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Room was spotless, the bed was so comfy so slept really well. Walked around the gardens mid morning, absolutely beautiful and well maintained . The restaurant served the best wild mushroom risotto I have ever eaten .
Will be looking to book another long weekend very soon !

Great games room. Helpful and friendly receptionist.
Breakfast was average.
Rooms could have been cleaner and whilst the decor was very nice, there were shabby spots around the place that needed attention.
Overall a pleasant stay. Hotel has lovely grounds for a stroll.

Refused to honour the voucher we had to include dinner advising the kitchen was closed. Very disappointing to then see other guests having dinner when we returned from a restaurant that evening. Dirty linen lay on the floor of the room breakfast was served in the whole of our stay and clearly their hoover was broken as the hall was dirty too. I think theyโ€™re aiming for shabby chic and only got the shabby part right. PS - take some window cleaner if youโ€™d like to appreciate the view out any of the windows
