A working party of parents, pupils, staff and Governors have put together a 3 year community vision for how we can improve the school as a part of the local community, using suggestions from all the different groups. To seek excellence in all that we attempt, setting high standards and targets to ensure that ALL of our children are challenged and successfully reach their potential.
At Blackburn Primary School, our vision is to provide our children with a curriculum that enables them to become resilient, ambitious learners who take pride in their achievements and have high aspirations and expectations for their future. The topics are chosen purposefully not only to ensure coverage but to engage and build on all the experiences of the children.
The Government introduced the Pupil Premium, funding which is additional to main school funding, as the best way to address some of the underlying equalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers.
The funding is intended to tackle disadvantage and to reach the children who need it the most, reducing the gap between the highest and lowest achieving children and enabling more students from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend top universities.Schools are free to decide how they spend this funding but are required to publish, through their website, how it has been used.

We believe that all young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation and is a key part of the education a children receive at Blackburn Primary School.
Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people's physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers.

This simple but profoundly important hope is the very minimum upon which every child and young person should be able to depend. At Blackburn Primary School we ensure every child who is a registered pupil at our school is safe and protected from harm and we expect everyone who works in our school to share this commitment.
