I have been lucky enough to have photographed over 250 wonderful weddings all over Scotland. From The Roxburghe Hotel in The Scottish Borders to The New Drumossie up in The Highlands. Your wedding day is one of the biggest, most important days of your life. As a photographer of course I want to make sure I capture those memories for you to look back on again and again but I am also very conscious that this is your wedding day.

It's not a photoshoot. I shoot your wedding as it happens, the candid shots of guests having a good time are equally as important as beautiful bride and groom portraits. Thank you for visiting and please get in touch to find out more.

They love to explore the beaches and forests around East Lothian as well as the rest of the country. Scampering through the woods at The Galloway National Park or by The Garry River near Pitlochry. If there's exploring to be done, they're in their element. I've been shooting weddings since 2009 and have many fond memories of some of the best days of my life.
One aspect of wedding photography that I love is capturing those little moments that really tell the story of your day. The smiles and laughter from the guests as they have a great time at your wedding. Or, maybe a tear from a parent as they look on proudly.

So at every wedding I'll photograph bridal preparations, the arrivals, ceremony and family photos of course but it's these little moments that happen throughout the day that will bring all those memories back in years to come.
The Communication was outstanding. He helped us picture our big day and talked us throught the whole day start to finnish. Before meeting derek we couldnt picture how the day would flow but after meeting him he explained everything from what happens at home getting ready right up to the party at night and we left so excited for the big day and totaly understood how it would all come together.
Your photography is is one of the most important elements of your wedding. Once the day has ended your album is there to provide you with a lifetime of memories not only for you but future generations. A wedding album is also future proof. While digital file formats or connections come and go, your album will always be there, ready to open and enjoy today and forever.

Derek has a great sense of humour, but is a true professional behind the lens. Fantastic end product. Highly recommended to capture your special occasion.

As a busy wedding band we meet lots of photographers across Scotland. We saw some of Dereks work in 2016 which blew us away, Derek is a professional who loves his job and makes every effort to capture the best shots. Book early as he is in great demand, you won't be disappointed. 5 Stars.

The best decision we made when planning our wedding was to use Derek as the photographer. So many of our family came up to us during the day to tell us what a lovely manner he had and how accommodating he was. Derek works incredibly hard and the photos are absolutely amazing.
We're really, really happy with him and we've been asked several times how we found him! I've recommended him to our friends and family. I'd recommend him to you.

When our daughter Emma told me that she had booked a photographer to come into our home the morning of her wedding to William, I was very apprehensive to say the least! As the bride, the two bridesmaids, James (her brother and one of the ushers), her father and myself were rushing around getting ready, this very nice man calmly sat at our kitchen table watching proceedings. When the timing was right Derek would snap away-never intruding or forceful. What a professional! We were amazed that he could move a crowd of 192 to part at the Church for the confetti shot and again captured them all together

Somewhat reluctantly, my fiancee agreed to have a photographer at our very small and private destination wedding. It's not that she didn't want to capture our memories, she was very concerned about having a stranger at our wedding giving orders and taking away from what was most important to us - each other. She'd seen that happen too many times at weddings that she had attended and didn't want the same thing to happen to us. I assured her that I would make sure that things would go smoothly, and set off to find our photographer.
Because neither of us were from our wedding destination, Scotland
