As recommended by Bromsgrove-based travel writer Nigel Roberts in Bradt's recently published anthology Bus-Pass Britain Rides Again - Bromsgrove is roughly the halfway point on your journey and if you are ready for lunch, alight at the bus station and head to the right, along the pedestrianised high street, to the Maekong Thai restaurant.I reckon it's the best food in town.

I love the food and the service here, have been going there for years, I've always enjoyed the visit and the staff are lovely. My only gripe is it could be updated a little to make it more cosy, the chairs need better cushioning.

I recommend the fried fish. I like this restaurant which one of few sit-in far eastern restaurants in the area.
My one suggestion scale back the garnish (cabbage and carrot) with each dish. Much of this must go in the bin.

Had a takeaway last night New Years Eve. Had pre booked two days before. Walked in to collect so glad to see they were busy in the restaurant. Food was 5 mins as usual staff were very pleasant. We haven't eaten here for a while but the food was as good as we remembered. Will definitely not be leaving it so long again.

This was our first time at Maekong Thai. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better. The whole experience was exceptional and the staff made us feel so welcome and couldn't do enough for us.
The flavours and combination of tastes were amazing.
We will be returning soon in the new year. Many thanks John

Very disappointed with everything. Booked for 6pm, the service was really slow, took ages to get our food. Portions of each dish were really small and very salty. The signature dish Tom yum soup more like vinegar water, the dishes were not any better than the packet source you buy from supermarket! We had a 2 year old toddler and we were told to be quite while I was talking to my baby, we were not loud at all, the waitress was taking a telephone booking/order at the time, I was really offended. Then my husband asked if they have any cheese at the table, because our child wanted some cheese. The

Extremely rude management.
My wife and 2 year old daughter were told to be quiet whilst their management took a phone call. Prior to that, I got the distinct impression that our family of 5 were not welcome because of our toddler. We remained courteous, polite and paid the bill in full, but weโ€™ll never go back The food was below average. As a well travelled mixed race Asian / British family, i can tell you the food isnโ€™t anything like authentic Thai food, only thing worse than the food is the service. Iโ€™d suggest they place a notice on the website and facility stating that children under

Fabulous food, good selection of wines and fantastic service. They even made mine without onions. I will bother them again very soon.

Hadn't been there even after all the times I've walked past and considered it. I took a shot on it last week. Glad I did because the food was amazing. So much so that I've been back again today. ๐Ÿ™‚
The larb salad reminds me of Thailand and the other dishes I have tried so far have been amazing. I'd list them all but I can't recall the names. ๐Ÿ˜‚
It's a little expensive for some dishes but it's worth every penny.
If you are looking for authentic tasting Thai food, this is the best place I've found to match it.
Oh and the staff are lovely and friendly people. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our family is of mixed Thai / English make up and of course we appreciate delicious Thai food. This restaurant offers this and much more. The staff cannot do enough for the customers and the food is absolutely delicious. We (whole family) has not hesitation in recommending the Maekong Thai Restaurant for both takeaway and dining in. Great food, fair prices and great service!

We had lunch from one of the set menus. We both had chicken with satay dip followed by stir fry duck in chef's special sauce. Both dishes were delicious. It was quite busy and the staff were very friendly and polite. A delightful experience.

I might push this place to 4 stars next time I visit, and I am absolutely certain I will come here again.

The staff were incredibly friendly and engaged in conversation with me after I thanked them in Thai. The service was prompt, professional and pleasant.

The food was delicious - we ordered a Mussaman curry and a Tamarind Seafood dish. Both had well-balanced Thai flavours, were reasonably portioned and the meat nicely succulent. Plus the presentation with intricately carved vegetables are lovely touch.

They have an extensive tea menu, but I did opt for my favourite Jasmine tea as I find

Update: went on 15/4/11....food still good, also tried a fish dish, excellent. Noodles good too.

I wish they was a way of keeping the food hot.... that is the only down side...

Friends booked, and they (the restaurant) remembered that she liked her wine very cold, and said that they would two bottles into the freezer immediately... LOL

Update: Returning on the 13/11/09, Friday the 13th, I hope everything
goes well. :-)

Everything was fine. Food was good, and the wine flowed. The staff are really very attentive, especially as the place was full.

My wife questioned whether the standard
