This is a beautifully located country hotel right next to the River Tweed. The staff are helpful, friendly and hospitable. The building is very grand, but in need of a little upgrading. Great selection of rooms. The breakfast is generous and very well prepared.

Having popped in for Sunday lunch I wasn't expecting haute cuisine, just decent pub grub. My wife had the Mediterranean Salad starter and my daughter and I had the potato and leek soup. For main course they had the beef burger and chips and I chose the steak and ale pie, a firm pub favourite of mine. The starters were fine, no complaints there. A bit posher than our usual choices, but enjoyable particularly for the setting. Before arrival we had a call to earn us that the evening menu would be limited due to some disturbance, a nice touch. Never found out what the issue was, but enjoyed what was available. Very good breakfast.

A beautiful building in a beautiful setting, and you can walk to the stunning Dryburgh Abbey ruins. The pool was great, and the breakfast was out of this world. My first haggis! (And I loved it.)
