Alicja has been working in the fine jewellery and diamond industry for over 14 years. Having been raised by a family of antique dealers and artists, Alicja's eye for design and attention to detail developed early. After completing her International Baccalaureate, Alicja moved to the UK to pursue her studies in Gemmology and Jewellery Design at the School of Jewellery in the esteemed Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.
Holts Gems was established in 1948 by Robert Holt, a pre-war Jewish refugee, who upon arriving in London from Vienna found his calling within London's bustling jewellery scene. Aged 16 he began an apprenticeship as a diamond polisher in Clerkenwell, soon developing ambitions of expanding his trade and taking his place alongside the fellow Hatton Garden jewellers that have made the area what it is today.

I had the most wonderful experience buying my wedding band from Holts - not only were Alicja and her colleagues extraordinarily kind, they were infinitely patient walking us through all the options and answering our questions. While some places in Hatton Garden can feel a little intimidating and you're unsure if you are finding quite what you want or need, the service at Holts was warm, honest and knowledgeable. I would very much recommend!

I had the pleasure of working with Yasmin, who cut the perfect piece of turquoise for our customer. She took the time to talk through the options and sent me photos of the rough stone so that I could choose the material myself. My husband and I went to Hatton Garden with a clear intention of buying a diamond ring but was struck by the beautiful jewellery in Holts window. Not knowing much about colour stones we found the staff friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We purchased a beautifully pale pink sapphire and diamond ring as my birthday present and I absolutely love it (even more so as it was in their refurbishment sale!)

I have to change my review to a positive one. My (now husband) after months of searching finally found the sapphire I wanted at this store.
This was not any easy task as I wanted a very specific peacock sapphire that was both blue and green. The one he found was beautiful. It changes in different lighting which is what makes it so special. It's hue is vibrant,it sparkles and the colour saturation covers the entire jewel.
It is the perfect size and shape and I can only say that it is perfect. Obviously we had spent a lot of time and many days researching and visiting every single shop in Hatton

Jan helped to design and cut a perfect diamond ring I wanted for my wife. He was very patient and helpful throughout, listening and offering insights to the latest design trends.
I was thoroughly satisfied with Jan's level of commitment and service and needless to say my wife was elated with the quality of the ring!

Still in the process of creating a unique watch dial for my other half. Holt's have been invaluable in its fabrication! Jan has managed to produce a stunning waffer thin Mother of Pearl disk, made to exacting specifications. They have also sourced an array of diamonds for the project, all done swiftly and at a fair price. I can't recommend them highly enough
