The Longhouse is one of the best child friendly wedding venues in Somerset. It is a family run venue and was built in 2004 next to Trendle Farm, where I've lived since my parents bought it in 1984. I returned to the family business after serving as a captain in the Royal Tank Regiment and in industry.

His first major project was to manage the build of the Longhouse which he was determined to make it as environmentally friendly and sustainably as possible; this has enabled us to have a fantastic venue for really green weddings.Matt married his wife Flora in 2005 and it was always their plan to have the wedding reception at the Longhouse.

Designed to create a feeling of floating above the tree tops, the Longhouse boasts stunning view across the Brue valley stretching over our vineyard, the River Brue and beyond. The southern side widens out to a full length balcony overlooking the lawn, formal flower beds and gazebo. It is a popular area for wedding guests in the evening to enjoy catching up with friends, soak in the views or just take a break from dancing!
The interior of the Longhouse has purposely been decorated in muted tones to allow wedding couples to enjoy creating their own colour schemes. There are different table layouts depending on the number of guests, and how formal you want the wedding breakfast to be. The tables are long and rectangular rather than round, making it easier for guests to be able to talk to each other.
As part of the venue hire, the bride and groom will have the use of the bridal flat in the main farmhouse from 11.00am Saturday until 11.00am Sunday. This includes a double bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and large sitting room. Distance need not be a problem for your guests as we can provide accommodation at the Longhouse for you (in the bridal flat) and for up to 40 wedding guests.

An absolutely amazing venue, so beautiful and relaxed! Matt was wonderful, really friendly and helpful. He gave us his undivided attention showing us around the Longhouse and Mill on the Brue which he is so clearly (and quite rightly!) proud of. Really sad not to be able to make the Longhouse our wedding venue but would wholeheartedly recommend this to any couples looking for a relaxed and quirky vibe on their big day!

We can't recommend the Longhouse and the Mill on the Brue enough. It is such a wonderful venue, and such a lovely setting that we simply had to get married there.
From our first meeting with Matt we have felt nothing but supported and welcomed by the venue and the team, and we were very much guided through the process of planning a wedding.
With regular meetings and discussions with Matt and the team about possibilities, we ended up with the wedding that we really wanted. Weather permitting for an outdoor ceremony in April, we wanted rounders, touch rugby and a hog roast... we got rounders, touch

We had such a perfect day for our wedding at the longhouse. Everything about it was spectacular!
Matt, the owner, is kind and knowledgeable with a real appreciation for anyone wanting to make their day really fun. I would not want to have a rigidly traditional, formal wedding here because the space, atmosphere and mindsets of everyone involved are geared towards a more free flowing, personal day.
Matt was really happy to facilitate almost all of our plans and support all our guests, including a wheelchair user, to make the most of the day. It took very little effort to have the venue looking

We can't recommend the Longhouse enough for anyone looking to get married in a stunning countryside location! The grounds are beautiful and Matt is very happy to accommodate whatever you want to do to the inside of the building. We even made a huge sign saying our new shared sir name hanging over the balcony which looked amazing and was a great photo opportunity! We really wanted a relaxed day with lots of music, food & drink – we got exactly what we wanted thanks to Matt and his team. All of the staff were fantastic on the day – really friendly & helpful to us & our guests which made a huge

My husband and I chose to have our wedding reception here 24/09/16.
We couldn't of asked for more professional, helpful staff who made us feel so comfortable from the first day we met them when we started planning our day to the minute we left on Sunday morning. There was no stress needed at all with the staff of the longhouse, everything was dealt with for us so we didn't need to worry.
We turned up an hour later than what was planned which meant the whole itinerary for the day was an hour behind schedule but that didn't matter, they sorted it all out and everything was absolutely fine and we

Thanks so much to all the staff at the longhouse with a special thanks to Matt and Abi! We absolutely love the setting of the longhouse with all the gardens and peaceful surroundings. We knew from the first time we looked around that we would want our wedding here and it was the most brilliant day despite the rain! Everything ran in a timely manner and we didn't have to worry about a thing on the wedding day! A great blank canvas to decorate to your own style! Also taste catering works really well with the longhouse and provides fantastic food! Thanks to you all!

We honestly can not recommend the Longhouse highly enough. Not only are the gardens and longhouse itself beautiful, but they look out across a lush, green valley; so peaceful and very Somerset! But it's not just beautiful, it's practical too. Lovely spots for drinks, both indoor and outdoor ceremony options, beautiful spots for pictures, plus room for guests to sleep on site if you wish.
However, that's not what really topped it for us. Matt, who owns and runs the Longhouse, does a brilliant job. He's relaxed, flexible and personable, yet efficient and reassuring. Always smiling, always happy
