Welcome to The Acorns Primary & Nursery School, a large and vibrant school in Ellesmere Port. Our school is proud to support our pupils to 'be the best you can be', by providing a stimulating, and progressive curriculum. We believe that by both supporting and challenging our pupils in a nurturing environment we ensure that they develop into confident and independent learners, with the highest expectations of themselves and others.

The values of tolerance, liberty, democracy and a respect for others and the rule of law are embedded in all that teach, and the way in which we run our school. As a Unicef Rights Respecting School, we firmly believe that we have a duty to support our pupils to become well-rounded, proactive global citizens.
Services
In Caterpillar Class, we take children from the age of 2. We have highly qualified and experienced staff (to degree level) to care for your child. We aim to provide a variety of sensory play experiences to encourage language and develop explorative senses. We follow the 'Development Matters' document, focussing on the prime areas which are: personal, social and emotional development; communication and language, and physical development.
In Butterfly Class, we take children from age 3. Children achieve, develop and have fun learning through play. This provision is lead by our EYFS Team Leader, who has a wealth of knowledge and skills and is effective in ensuring her team strive for the best possible outcomes and experiences for every child.
Our open door policies ensure that discussions with parents / carers who express concerns leads to further investigations. All children are closely monitored by class teachers and other staff members through observations, analysis of data and / or emotional / social concerns. These are relayed to the school's Inclusion Manager who will make further investigations / analysis.
Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child's education through: informal discussions; telephone conversations; home-school diaries; parents evenings. Parents can phone or pop into school to make an appointment any time. Parents are invited to 'Meet the SENCo & SEND Governor' for an informal discussion about SEND provision, and a regular parent questionnaire is sent out.
The Acorns has a wide variety of resources and interventions which are unstilted, tailored, and reviewed regularly to meet the individual needs of individual pupils. The Acorns provide:. The Acorns has resourced provision for children with Complex needs. There is an entrance criteria for a place in this provision and places are allocated through the Local Authority.

I have very recently switched preschools for my 3 year old. I have to say, hes only had 1 day there and I am so much more impressed in comparison to his previous preschool. The staff are very friendly, it is obvious that the school is very driven to provide the best educational experience for the children. They recognise that all children are individual and are very interested in their lives. All questions I had were answered during a mandatory home visit, where they got to know my son and interacted with him so he was familiar with who they are for his first day at his new school which I thought
