The Winning Post
Set in a quiet, beautiful village in the Berkshire countryside, The Winning Post oozes character and charm. Enjoy a superb meal or drinks with family in our 18th century pub building, with its cosy nooks and crannies, original stone floor and huge open fire, or indulge in a peaceful overnight stay in one of our 12 fantastic rooms.

The Winning Post is within easy reach of Windsor and Ascot, making it a firm favourite for equine fans, with Ascot and Royal Windsor racecourses as well as The Royal County of Berkshire and Guards Polo Clubs nearby. Stayed here for one night and could not fault it at all. Bed was comfortable, staff were helpful and the food was delicious, especially the breakfast!

Only stopped for a drink but it was heaving despite being between meal times. Will definitely return for food and then again in summer for a drink.

Lovely friendly staff from the moment we checked in to when we left. Had a ground floor room which we had requested with outside access for our dog. Very clean and all essentials provided. Had dinner which was delicious and they brought a special treat for our dog for breakfast! Would definitely stay again.

We had an amazing stay here. Accommodation was excellent, very spacious exceptionally clean. Everything we could need for our stay.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Food in the restaurant was excellent, all freshly prepared and cooked. Continental breakfast had great choices with fresh out of the oven croissants.
We only stayed for one night, wish it could have been longer. Will definitely return for another stay.

We stay just around the corner from the Winning Post and have been here several times in the last few months. Initially we put off going because it looked super upmarket and pricey. I think that was just me being weird.
When we finally did try it we kicked ourselves for not going sooner. All the meals we have had have been of a very high standard and pricing pretty average for food and drinks. The service has been great and the staff have always seemed friendly and helpful. A couple nice outside spaces and a characterful and well maintained classic pub on the inside.
We have a fair bit of variety

Food was good but we waited over an hour for our main course as many other reviewers have mentioned. No apology or even recognition that we’d waited so long - just an excuse that the kitchen was “very busy” when clearly it wasn’t. It’s a shame because it’s a nice pub and good food let down by poor customer service. Again as other reviewers have noted.

Booked breakfast on Sunday 22/08 for four people as a last stop for my family who had been visiting for the weekend from Scotland. I had told them how quaint and lovely our new local pub was after moving to the area. Upon arriving a tall dark haired waitress came over and asked if she could help. I explained we had a table for four for breakfast. Her response was “not for cooked breakfast you haven’t” I could not believe the response. I said I had booked breakfast for four people for this date and she said “not cooked, continental only” I asked why I would not be made aware of this when
