Dowans Hotel
Here, at the Dowans, our staff are key to making us who we are. Without their effort, dedication and service professionalism, we would not have achieved the levels of success that we have experienced since we took over the Dowans; for those very reasons, we are indebted to their hard work and commitment.

Quietly spoken but with a wicked sense of humour, our Head Chef Scott is a devoted family man whose second greatest passion is food; on the one hand, capable of producing dishes that are simple yet flavoursome and, on the other, dishes that are equally resplendent with fantastic flavours but catered to those who like the finer things in life.
Services
Our hotel, built in 1888, offers sixteen individual and bespoke en-suite rooms ranging from cosy and elegant singles to eloquently styled king and super-king size doubles. Every room has tea and coffee making facilities, a flat-screen television, free Wi-Fi and en-suite bathroom stocked with complimentary toiletries.
The menu here is seasonal, reflecting that all our fresh ingredients are sourced locally and sustainably. The '57' of the title records that the Dowans sits 57 degrees parallel north of the earth's equator: a fact known only to cartographers, explorers, and our son and brother Sean, who is a pilot, and it's Sean who gave the restaurant its name!
Beginning in the early 19th century as a little snack to break up the time between the two main meals of the day: breakfast and dinner at 8pm, Afternoon Tea has gained in popularity. Nowadays, it is enjoyed by many as a 'wee treat' and often enjoyed as a way of celebrating a special occasion.

Here at the Dowans our in-house baker, serves up a delicious array of treats - both savoury and sweet - all freshly prepared every day and only using the finest of ingredients and local produce.Served between 1 and 4pm every day, we ask that all reservations are made with us 24 hours in advance. And don't worry about any dietary requirements that you might have - we can accommodate them all!
Craft beers, well-known and home-created whisky and spirit based cocktails, specially selected wines by the glass and several Scottish and International spirit brands are all available in the comfort of the MBar. MBar offers the perfect surrounds in which to enjoy a stimulating aperitif or relaxing after dinner snifter.
The Dowans Hotel lies at the heart of Malt Whisky country - Scotland's most famous export. More than half of Scotland's malt whisky distilleries are situated in Speyside. Hardly a road can be taken without seeing the charcoal stained, stone bonded warehouses and pagoda roofs distinct of malt whisky distillation.

I don't know what else to say. The Dowan's has 4 stars on their sign, but I may come and add a couple in the middle of the night. Don't think I would have wanted to stay anywhere else. Clean, beautiful grounds, and even more beautiful people! Food was great and drink prices super reasonable. It felt more like staying in a huge house with family and friends than a hotel and its workers. I hope to one day be back to visit! Thanks for making our vacation that much better :)

Chic gem of a hotel in the gorgeous Speyside country. The hotel was recently redecorated and everything about it was absolutely beautiful. Rooms were clean and modern, staff was super friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Their whisky collection was extensive and their expertise was what you'd expect from a hotel in this area. Very close to excellent distilleries and a quaint country town. Dowans is my happy place and I can't wait to go back.

What a fantastic stay!! We were in the Macallan room - supremely comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom with deep, separate tub. The view is magnificent. We loved the room, but even better was the hospitality of the bar area and the scotch room. The food was very good, and after dinner the first night we cancelled other plans for night two and chose to eat there a second night. Fabulous cocktails and magnificent scotch selection. We hope to be back and highly recommend!

Also do the lovely little walk by the Falls adjacent to Aberlour distillery. So beautiful and a nice way to stretch your legs.

Look no further, this place is as good as it gets. The Dowans are an amazing family and their hospitality is above par. Amazing stay, amazing food, impeccable service! The whisky room is a plus too. We will be back!

This is an excellent hotel with modern furnishings (including heated bathroom floors and towel rails!) and free wifi throughout. The room was a bit small, but it's very cosy and didn't feel cramped at all.

It's a quick walk into the town of Aberlour, which is beautiful and which features a lot of paths between he various towns in this area.

The free breakfast is delicious, the coffee is strong and the servers are very friendly.

This is a beautiful building overlooking a valley. The staff have been extremely friendly and helpful. We have really enjoyed our stay and would definitely

Grounds are lackluster, rooms are ok. Probably the nicest place near this town. Staff person (young girl) was quite rude and patronizing when asked questions about the accommodation. Zero customer service, no help with bags, no introduction to the place etc...We just came up from Fonab Castle the night before and it was amazing! Night and day difference to this place

If you must stay here then don't set your expectations too high (this is not a 4 star accommodation), and everything will be fine.
Although i do think you could spend less money elsewhere and be equally as happy.
