Western Isles Hotel
In an age of standardisation and uniformity, The Western Isles stands out as a grand old lady looking out imperiously from her headland over Tobermory village, harbour and bay to the Sound of Mull and mainland Scotland beyond, as she has done for nearly 150 years.

She has quite a history, having played an important role in the Second World War effort, then becoming a Forties film star before returning to her true metier of making her guests welcome, comfortable, and happy.Under new family ownership, she combines classic charm with contemporary amenities, boasting ensuite in all rooms and a brand new state-of-the-art wi-fi system that provides internet access throughout the hotel.
Services
All designed with your comfort and relaxation in mind, our rooms won't disappoint. With a selection of different styles and price ranges, there's something for everyone's tastes. Master Sea View bedrooms are larger with a small sitting area and stunning views through windows looking south over the bay.
Our Conservatory Restaurant and Bar is open to Residents and Non Residents all week. Our mission is to make all our wonderful locally sourced ingredients taste of themselves and let their quality shine through. With stunning views of Tobermory bay and the sound of Mull, what better place to watch the world go by?
The Western Isles Hotel is located on the Isle of Mull, the largest of the islands of Argyll and the third largest in Scotland with 300 miles of coastline. Ben More, with an elevation of roughly 1,000 metres is a popular climb and the island has many other fine hill walks of varying degrees of difficulty.
For a romantic terrace wedding overlooking the sparkling waters of the Sound of Mull or a small intimate civil ceremony, look no further than the splendidly beautiful and historic Western Isles Hotel. We can take care of it all for you (ceremony, food, drinks, reception, entertainment, flowers, photographer etc.) or you are welcome to arrange for additional services.
Our candlelit Kiloran room, decorated in William Morris style, is perfect for anniversary and birthday dinners. It is also available for smaller meetings and conferences. Larger conferences and training sessions take place in the much larger Cameron Room.

The Cameron Room, offers breathtaking views of Tobermory Harbour and can accommodate up to 80 delegates, while the Kiloran room is also available for conferences, meetings and small private dinner parties, with capacity for up to 25 delegates.

I hadn't been since 2018 when the experience wasn't great. This time, though a small glitch in schedule had us missing the entertainment by an hour, was absolutely wonderful! Best scone I've ever eaten too! Food was prompt, staff was attentive & friendly. Would recommend it! Price was very good too.

Ruth at reception was 1st class. We arrived to Mull on the first ferry and before sightseeing around the island we wanted to check check-in times and see Tobermory. Ruth advised we were very welcome to leave the car at the hotel as we went off into Tobermory but check-in wasn’t until 4pm.
As we set off into town Ruth shouted us back and was able to offer us the chance to look at a different room style from the one we booked but was available to us should we want it.
The room was perfect and we gladly accepted the offer. This meant we were able to unpack freshen up and really make the most of

The greatest view you'll get in Tobermory. The dining area is certainly the selling point. A lovely place for a special meal, with a good selection of local seafood.

We have just had a four night stay here and cannot recommend this place enough! The view from the dining room is amazing and the food is delicious. Even if you aren’t staying here you should definitely visit the restaurant.
We paid a bit extra for a sea view room which was worth it for the view we had.
The staff are all lovely too and can’t do enough for you!

My friends and I were originally booked at a different restaurant, but when we saw the view and menu here, we felt this was worth a few more ££.
We arrived at our table to be told they had only booked for 2 people when our emails said 4. Thankfully they fitted us in. The gin selection was very good and well priced and the view is great. This is all the good things I can say about this place.
Our starters were tasty, but nothing special as the menu made them out to be.
The mains were a disaster. The mink fish was tiny, about three reasonable mouthfuls worth and came with little to no veg. We

Wasn’t staying in the hotel but visited for dinner and to be perfectly honest I’ve had better meals from fast food chains. Starters were ok but how can you go wrong with shop bought pate and heritage tomatoes with cheese. Mains is where it started to unravel with lamb that was a tough as old boots and burgers that were listed as home made could have been used as projectiles to launch at the visible fleet of small boats in the harbour. The views were/ are incredible, the food however not so good. Such a shame as this place should be busting at the seems because of quality cooking to match the
