Services
Our client always come first at McGregors our well qualified, highly motivated and experienced lawyers pride themselves in providing a top quality service for clients from initial contact at the Police Station up to and including Criminal Proceedings in Youth, Magistrates and Crown Court. Good representation is vital and can make the difference between keeping or losing your liberty.
It is everyone's right to have legal advice and representation during the course of an investigation at a Police Station. We offer free initial legal advice over the phone or in the Police Station. There are occasions when investigations take place in other locations than a Police Station, for example, investigations conducted by the Department of Work and Pensions.
Voluntary interviews can take place at your home, at the police station or another suitable location. Voluntary participation in an interview means that you are not under arrest. You will be told by the Police that you can terminate the interview at any time. In practice, once the interview has commenced this may be more difficult than anticipated and could in any event result in you being arrested to conclude the interview.
Legal Aid is available to cover the costs of providing advice and representation in respect of advising at a Police Station. Legal Aid may be available to cover the costs of providing advice and representation at the Magistrates' Court and Crown Court in relation to criminal prosecutions, however this depends on the nature of the offence and means testing.
More serious offences are dealt with before the Crown Court, including all cases of serious crime and commercial fraud. The practice undertakes the detailed preparation of cases before the Crown Court, carefully assessing and considering the prosecution evidence in the form of witness statements and exhibits, and accessing appropriate and relevant unused material.
