Discover Shipley's secret restaurant for yourself, (dog friendly) and relax at our canal-side setting, with a calm & welcoming atmosphere. Housed in an 150 yr old Leeds Liverpool Canal side warehouse view the Swans, Ducks and Geese or try and glimpse a Kingfisher. We are now open for dining at both Lunch and Dinner Tuesday - Saturday, as normal with hours at lunch 12:00 with last table sat at 2:30.
Tables after 2:00 will only be offered the Lunch menu. We have both indoor and outdoor seating, we currently have a marque protecting diners should the weather turn inclement, with limited heating. Current staffing levels and level of bookings means we cannot always accept walk-in tables, calling ahead for availability is best.

Services
We have a small team but with experience in several fine dining establishments both in the UK and France. This allows us to provide good service and consistent food that has a French influence but uses fresh produce sourced locally where ever possible. Take our cheese board, Flat Capper and St Helens Goats are just 2 of the selections from our board.
Due to a number of recent No-shows/Late Arrivals which are quite disruptive to a restaurant's of our size, we have had to introduce a policy on bookings that do not appear at the time booked. We will hold all reservations for 15 minutes after the booked time. If your party has not arrived or called via phone within 15 minutes after your reservation time, we reserve the right to mark your reservation as a no-show or cancellation.
We are a family business, who took over Waterside in 2016, with staff who are passionate about bringing good food and service whenever you visit. Our aim is to provide a consistent standard in food delivery and service so we meet your requirements on each visit. We are proud to provide British cuisine that showcases the best seasonal and, where possible, local produce.
As the new spring menu approaches we are also revamping the wine offering. New wines will include a white Chenin Blanc and Chablis with additional reds Neropasso and a Shiraz/Riesling. We are currently out of wine from Laural Vines but hope to include these soon. Our craft beers include local Saltaire Full Tilt, Kirkstall Brewery Virtous and Pilsner.
Our menus change on a seasonal basis in order to make use of the available ingredients. We are able to cater for some Vegetarian requirements, but if you have a specific need, please contact us before your booking so we can meet your needs. Taster Menu - 5 course taster menu, Chef choice, for 40 (the whole booking must participate we can only currently cater for a Pescetarian option as an alternative).

Absolutely lovely food. My friend and I shared the steak for a main and asked especially for blue as many other restaurants cooked it too much so it wasn’t properly ‘blue’ but this steak was one of the nicest steaks we have had in a long time. For starters we had the prawns which were presented perfectly and the salad was spectacular. Service was attentive, friendly and overall excellent. Would definitely recommend to others and going to visit again for dinner soon hopefully!

Staff was very friendly. Food was delicious, the sous vive venison was melt in the mouth. Scallops was fresh and sweet. The monkfish was substantial too.
We also ordered the black creme brulee. One of the best deserts in a long time.
Highly recommend and can tell the skill and passion of the chef.
Will try and visit again

A warm welcome and a relaxing atmosphere, a pleasure to dine here.
The food was delicious, more menu options than the website menu showed. Each dish had a great mix of flavours, well thought through and very tasty.
Covid wise - tables are set apart, there is a one way system through the restaurant and you wear a mask to the table and also if using the facilities.

This is a real find. Taken here by friends and wasnt sure what to expect. When I found out it was under an old gym in the basement of an old canal side mill was even more dubious.
I was wrong, very wrong. Greeted by the host, who's name I didn't get (my fault), who immediately put you at ease and obviously enjoyed chatting with his customers.
The dining area is simple, I've read reviews that complain about the decor, it's a mill basement, steel beams bare walls, air con ducts. Some places pay designers a fortune to make it look like this.
And then the food. Mine host brought us an espresso cup
