A small, comfortable and stylish family-run hotel on the beautiful island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Dining at Hamersay House is "brasserie style" with a menu that emphasises our capability to source the very freshest ingredients locally. Instead, you will find most of our friendly and enthusiastic staff at our sister hotel, Langass Lodge, which is just 7 miles from us.

If you are planning a trip to Uist, please check Langass Lodge for availability. Purpose built in 2005 in the village of Lochmaddy, Hamersay House was bought by the team from Langass Lodge in 2014. A series of refurbishments has established this as a comfortable 4 star hotel popular with discerning visitors keen to explore this island.
Services
With many years at Langass Lodge, Amanda and Niall are very pleased to broaden their hospitality here at Hamersay House. When the tides permit, she gathers most of the cockles and mussels that feature regularly on the menu at Hamersay House. Niall, a local to North Uist, is a fantastic wealth of knowledge when it comes to walking, fishing and boating on these islands.
We pride ourselves with the comfort and attention to detail of our accommodation. We have 8 double bedrooms and 1 family room, some of which can be re-arranged as twin rooms. The rooms have been decorated to reflect the coastal location of the hotel and offer top quality comfort. These large and spacious rooms all have en suite bathrooms and wonderfully comfortable beds.
Dining at Hamersay House is "brasserie style" with a menu that emphasises our capability to source the very freshest ingredients locally. Our Head Chef Ian Davidson has worked across Europe and combines his eclectic knowledge with the very best local ingredients available on North Uist. The result is a fresh and variable menu that appeals to all.
From Hamersay, visitors are able to take on a wide variety of activities for recreation, sport, and relaxation. With our extensive local knowledge we will always try to point you in the right direction and with our good relationship with the North Uist estate we can arrange fishing and shooting with appropriate backup where necessary.
Fishing on North Uist is varied and exciting. You may choose brown trout lochs with reputation or break out into the wilder distance and find a rarely fished lochan. You might choose the unique environment of the tidal sea pools in search of sea trout and migratory fish. Or you might consider the salmon as your main interest, with established runs into well-known lochs such as Geirreann and Skealtair.
