Plumfield Dental Practice
Plumfield Dental Practice is a friendly, independent, family-run dentist, in the heart of Carlisle's historic city centre. We provide everyday, essential care for the whole community, in a long-established, accessible setting. We aim to diagnose and treat oral disease early and help prevent future problems, at regular check-ups.

We strive to meet the health needs of our NHS patient base, and can also offer cosmetic and non-cosmetic dentistry on a private basis. Going to the dentist is not my favourite place to be but I can honestly say that this time it was a positive experience with hardly any apprehension or anxiety. In my experience to have such confidence in a new dentist is quite remarkable and unusual.
Services
All of our qualified, experienced staff are registered with the General Dental Council, and work to uphold its' standards when caring for our patients. Our team includes a dental therapist and dental hygienist, who can undertake some types of treatments, working with your dentist to help you maintain your smile.
We offer a wide range of private treatments, both cosmetic and non-cosmetic. Below is a list of the most popular forms of treatment. Should you wish to discuss any other treatment, please contact us to book a free consultation with your dentist. All prices listed below are for guidance only, pricing will vary according to your dentist's assessment of your individual needs.
Air polishing, sometimes known as airflow, is a safe, painless and cost-effective way to improve the colour of your teeth by removing stains. It removes discolouration caused by smoking, tea, coffee and red wine. It can also help with maintaining gum health for patients who find traditional scaling and polishing by the hygienist, sensitive or painful, as it requires no vibration and minimal pressure on teeth and gums.
Inhalation sedation involves breathing in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen. Sedation is used to help adults and children have dental treatment and is sometimes called 'happy gas' or 'gas and air'. It can help with anxiety about dental treatment. It can also help if you/your child have a tendency to gag during treatment.
Due to the sealed customised trays and the combination of home and in-surgery treatment, results are more rapidly achieved and are of the whitest natural shade. If the teeth have white spots on them before bleaching, these spots will appear whiter during the first few days. However, the contrast between the spots and the rest of the teeth will reduce.

Disgusted with this practice since it was taken over. Now getting rid of ALL their NHS patients to become a private practice. Nothing but GREED.

I had two missing teeth in my adult set (they just never grew), which is something I’ve always felt self conscious of. As a teenager I had braces, however at the time couldn’t wait to have them off so I had them removed early and didn’t finish my treatment. Subsequently I wasn’t offered a solution to overcome my ‘gappy’ smile. Additionally, the overall colour of my teeth was uneven.
Treatment initially involved whitening to even and significantly whiten my teeth and then composite bonding to camouflage the missing teeth and the smaller gaps. The final part of my treatment was a bridge

Took my daughter in to get a cavity sorted out. Never have I seen a dentist take so much time w walking a child through a procedure. My little girl has an anxiety condition and was made to feel at ease, even when she was feeling nervous. They answered all her questions and let her feel the tools they were going to use on her mouth. Nice touch.
Thank you folks for making this work seamlessly with special mention to Maysa for being so calm and collected with her.

I have used this dental practice for many years and it has recently changed ownership & been renamed as Plumfield.
I must say it has changed a great deal in a number of ways, for the better, I am glad to say.
It has been totally refurbished & updated & seems to have been extended upwards with more rooms do deal with more people, I can't be sure though as I've only been on the second floor up to now.
Went for my first appointment today, the first of two, I had a clean & repair, the staff treating me were extremely friendly & put me at ease.
I must also say it was the best treatment I've ever
