Businesses and their directors must ensure that they operate their trading relationships in a way that is compliant with the Bribery Act 2010. The effect of this legislation is far reaching and ensures that breaches can result in civil and corporate liability with custodial sentences, financial penalties and other economic sanctions imposed.
We live in transactional times where seeking a commercial edge through rapid digital communications and networking with clients and competitors alike can feel like a do or die approach to stay ahead of the curve.

But with this approach comes the commercial quandary at the heart of all competition law cases - was any information shared between the parties tantamount to a collusion to manipulate the market and distort fair competition at the expense of consumers?
The dawn raid is merely the execution of a court ordered search warrant. It can be executed at home addresses or multiple places of business simultaneously. Usually large quantities of documentation and data may be the subject of the search and ultimately seizure.

We can advise on the validity of the search, assist in the retention of material not included, protect items which are covered by legal professional privilege or seek copies of seized material. We can advise on the options available to you and the next steps.
We recognise that many of the issues that touch our clients carry an inherent element of damage to either a personal or professional reputation. We are able to react to the need of our clients to avoid or mitigate themselves against the media glare and adverse publicity. We have acted for senior politicians, sports personalities and celebrities.
A fundamental tenet of our criminal justice system is that a suspect of a criminal offence has the right not to incriminate themselves and provide the investigators or prosecuting authorities with evidence against them. Compliance with this request is not optional and failure to answer such questions or provide relevant documents is a criminal offence of itself.

Absolutely shocking level of service provided by Blackfords. I was told by my allocated Solicitor to start preparing my own statement as she doesn't get paid enough to go through all the relevant paper work. Absolutely stocking and furthermore very unprofessional in approach. I actually used to use this firm before it changed to Blackfords and the directors were great, not sure what's gone wrong. I certainly wouldn't use them again especially for child protection cases involving social services. So guys please beware otherwise you'll land yourself in a place you don't want to be in.

Would not recommend anyone to use this solicitor firm. Used them for a criminal case and also family case. They do not work with you but rather against you. For my criminal case i was advised by my solicitor to give my side of the story in a police interview which resulted in me being charged. After being charged i had to attend court which my solicitor who attended with me told me that the evidence was compelling and that most likely i was to be found guilty was it was my best interest to enter a guilty plea. I then changed the solicitor to a different firm after which i was found not guilty.
