Through our teaching of history at St Matthew's, it is our intent to inspire our pupils' curiosity by encouraging them to discover past events. We hope to help pupils grow in independence and take ownership of their own learning, by understanding how the past has impacted on our lives today.
History helps our pupils to gain an understanding of the process of change as well as the diversity and challenges of societies, both past and present and even looking towards the future. It gives children a sense of their own identity and ensures the progressive development of historical concepts, knowledge, skills of enquiry, analysis, interpretation and problem solving.

We are delighted to welcome visits to school from parents and carers of our new Reception Class 2022. If you have any queries please contact the school office and we will be delighted to help you.
