Lal Qilla Restaurant is centrally located in Lyme Regis, Dorset on the Jurassic Coast of Devon and Dorset. We serve a variety of Indian cuisine including Tandoori, Balti, Jalfrize, Biranies and Bengal dishes. We use typically asian ingredients including chicken, lamb, seafoods, vegetables and rice.
We also offer a wide variation of vegetarian dishes. Excellent food and comfortable place to eat. Our family love Indian food and to find a little gem like this one is a real pleasure. The staff were attentative, efficient and friendly without being over the top Although they do a lot of takeaway food as well as the restaurant the takeaway side didn't interefere with the experience of dining in the restaurant.

Services
Medium hot, cumin flavour. Pieces of tender chicken marinated, barbecued off the bone, cooked in tomatoes, onion, capsicum, cumin & selected spices. Tandoori & Tikka dishes are marinated, skewed & cooked in a clay oven which is fired with charcoal. Tandoori dishes are served with green salad & mint sauce.
Go up Lyme's main street from the bottom and the Lal Qilla is on your right after about 100 metres. We are very close to four of Lyme's car parks in the heart of historic Lyme Regis and are within a couple of hundred yards of the shore. We are within 100 metres of the main Lyme bus stop that is served by numerous routes both along the coast to Bridport, Seaton and Charmouth and inland to Axminster, and Chard.

5 stars really is the least you can give to Lal Quilla based on the food. It's premium quality at a good price. If you're eating in, book ahead. We had a party of ten which is the largest I think they'd be able to accommodate in one long table. The interior is tight and busy, not least because it was a full house on a Saturday evening but also because the takeaway customers have to come in to the main restaurant to collect which means their front door is continually opening and closing. Our table was right next to the door but I have to say the breeze was welcome relief in what is a warm environment

I only leave reviews of either very good or very bad. Now we are all aware there has been a pandemic and this has effected lots of people and business however what I don't fathom is business taking the proverbial out of visitors. Some will certainly price themselves out of sucess when folks are happy to holiday abroad. This place isn't one of them, lovely food, very good value and never fails to provide a decent bit of grub when on holiday, We had a chicken madras and loads of chicken and really bloody good. 4 years on the bounce we have eaten here and will continue to do so

Don't waste your time and money. The locals here seem to like it but INDIANS PLEASE DON'T DINE OR ORDER HERE!! The dishes were so sweet I started feeling nauseous after 2 bites. The chicken dish was topped with resins and cashews. The dishes that are normally very spicy, were sweet. Me and my friends thought we mixed up our order and did not expect this from an Indian restaurant but then clarified that it is NOT INDIAN. We had to eat bread and sleep after a tiring evening in the new forest area.
