Once Upon a Time is small enough to offer a truly bespoke and responsive level of care to best meet the requirements of both the child and their parents. We offer a flexible child care service and will work in partnership with you throughout your child's time at our nursery.
Once Upon a Time is a family run business. It was founded by Helen O'Neill in 1999 and it is now managed by Rob O'Neill, her son. Helen's aim was to create a truly home from home child care experience and provide bespoke, high quality care for children under 5. This philosophy defines everything we do today.
At Once Upon a Time we operate a stage system based on age groups. It is very important for children to experience a sense of continuity and belonging within the nursery in the same way as they would within a family. At Once Upon a Time we achieve this by assigning each of our children to a small group.
After many years of running our successful nurseries we know how to provide a cost effective service that will ensure you top quality, reliable childcare from dedicated professionals. There are 2 sessions a day (morning and afternoon). We make every effort to be as flexible as possible on timings to fit in with your busy schedule, for example you can add 'top-up' hours if you need extra cover in addition to a standard session.
Once Upon a Time provides delicious, healthy and nutritious meals for the children. We use local suppliers and meals are prepared daily using fresh, seasonal ingredients. All of the food menus meet and exceed the government's compulsory minimum nutritional requirements.
You can rest assured that the meal we provide for your child each day will be nutritionally balanced and provide them with all the goodness required for healthy growth, mental development and the best possible start in life.Our meals also include a wide range of flavours, textures and colours to make them interesting, fun and enjoyable.

Feeling emotional going to Nolas nursery graduation today. Nola has had an amazing 3 years here and has loved every day, the staff have been wonderful and Nola loves each of them and it has really felt like a little family there. I’m going to be so sad and it will feel odd not coming anymore after going each week for the last 12 years after all 3 of my children have been there. Nola says she will miss you all and she has made friends for life thank you so much 😊

I first decorated the nursery 3 years ago & was so impressed with the different rooms & how incredibly friendly the staff are I decided to sign my daughter up! I live in Sunnyside & theres 3 nursery's within a 5 min walk from my door (it's a 20 min out of the way round trip) but having seen first hand how happy the children are & how loving the… staff are it was a no brainer. My daughter has been there 2 years & loves it - she even helped out with the decorating 😁 The regular updates & pictures on the app are a great touch I really can't reccomend this place

I have had a lovely experience with this nursery. My son goes here and absolutely loves it. The staff are amazing and I feel really relaxed leaving my son with them. They do loads of fun activities and I am often amazed by the things that he has been doing during the day. It's always hard leaving your little one but I feel very confident with the care he receives at this nursery.
