The swimming teachers noted how well children in smaller classes improved at a much faster rate than those in his larger classes and set maximum numbers in every class to just 3 pupils. Unlike other swim schools where helpers are brought in to lower class ratios, all members of staff are qualified teachers, insured and have an enhanced CRB check.
Chris launched Wessex's first swimming lessons 15 years ago with a couple of teachers and a handful of swimmers. Since then, Wessex continues to expand each year. Chris believes in offering high quality swimming lessons and is passionate about making swimming available to everyone. Chris is still a fully qualified swimming teacher and you can often catch him on poolside sharing his love of teaching.
At Wessex Swim School we pride ourselves in offering high quality swimming lessons with fully qualified swimming teachers!. We work on stages from the Swim England framework to access our swimmers. As part of our Wessex Way, we also add additional competencies onto some of our stages to ensure swimmers are ready to move up to the next stage.
To help us streamline our processes and assist when pool closures occur and for re-enrolment we are looking to move all of our swimmers to Direct debit payments during 2021. On average we have 35-37 lessons per year per class. The average is split over 12 months. When a lesson is cancelled or booked out for a holiday or pool closure the system automatically deducts this from your next payment.
With our lower stages we have a maximum of 3 swimmers per class; this only increases to 5 when swimmers complete Stage 5 and the lessons increase to 45 minutes. This is a really effective teaching technique and we have seen great progress with the smaller ratios. Our Instructors use portable devices to mark their classes each week, giving you the opportunity to register onto our Home Portal and track your swimmers progress from home.
