Most of our matches are played Saturdays and Sundays, and a local pub side make use of our ground during the week along with the Colts (Junior Players). On a match day the clubhouse bar is always open, why not come down and have a drink whilst supporting your local cricket club. While we play every game to win, our first aim is to enjoy our cricket.
We welcome players of all shapes, sizes and talents, whether they want to play one game or twenty games a season. After being promoted for the 2018 season we narrowly missed out on promotion coming 3rd in Division 3 of the Two Counties cricket league. We are aiming once again for promotion and recuriting for the 2021 Season.

Although the club was officially founded in 1947, many games were played under the Abberton banner in earlier years in Fingringhoe. In those days, cattle had to be moved elsewhere to allow the games to take place. Present were Colin Tippetts, Jimmy Telford, Peter Russell-Walker and the landlord, Bert Amos.

Abberton & District Cricket Club is run and managed by volunteers. We can only really become, and remain successful, if enough people volunteer their time and energy in return for the satisfaction of doing something really worthwhile and enjoyable. Any help is very welcome, and in most cases you don't need to have any knowledge of cricket to help out.
At Abberton & District Cricket Club we are proud to offer our clubhouse & grounds as a venue for hire. It has facilities for both conferences and functions with a fully licensed bar throughout the year with the additional benefit of relaxing views over our cricket ground.

The club moved to it's present site in 1954 when it was recognized that a more permanent home was needed. This was provided by local farmer, LG Evans, initially on a leasehold agreement. He later sold the ground to the club for the princely sum of 200.
Initially, the clubhouse was no more than an asbestos clad shed, but in 1974 members decided to add a bar to the facilities courtesy of a small interest free loan from Greene King and this addition certainly improved finances dramatically!During the close season of 1979/80, new changing facilities and toilets were built at a cost of 14,000.
