I've used Mantax a lot through the years, not always down to choice but mainly down to them being one of the biggest taxi providers in and around Manchester city centre, after Uber. I've often found the experience can vary from driver to driver, which is frustrating because the drivers are often independent, they hire the radio and use the Mantax app/logo/brand.
I've had multiple bad journeys with Mantax, but I've also had multiple good ones, and it seems for every awful driver, I've had a good one too.

They sent what was supposed to be a wheelchair taxi. The ramp was broken and not fixed to the vehicle properly and driver did not put the up-stands on the sides up, he left them flat. No proper seat-belts or equipment to tie the wheelchair down. Driver just kept saying "don't worry, its fine, I have been doing this all week". If taxi reg. LC09 OOD arrives to transport you, don't get in. Dangerous service!

Terrible service . I booked a taxi three days in advance because I needed a large car as it was 3 people plus someone in a wheelchair and I knew they used the Mercedes van. Said no problem. Phoned on the day… and they said all booked . Waited at allotted time no cab. When I phoned they told me that the people who had the big vans did private work and they put that first ! In the end we had to have two black cabs which made it more expensive. What’s the point of pre booking when they can’t guarantee the taxi ? Disgraceful service .

Will never use these taxis again!!! You always wait at least 20 mins. Leaving a 92 year old, wheelchair bound Grandmother for over 3 hours, whilst constantly telling her it was on its way is sick and you would be fuming if it were your Mother. Mantax and Richard Dunn you should be ashamed!! Tonight we used Club Cars to come back from the Railway. They were cheaper and extremely fast

Coming from Canal Street, the driver assumed we were drunk and took us all the way to Fallowfield after clearly stating our address in Rusholme, Watching GPS on our phones, the driver ignored our repeated requests to follow the way to our destination and refused to let us leave the vehicle. We ended up paying almost £20 for what would have cost us no more than £7 with UBER or Street Cars even at peak times. Quite obviously, all the other 4 reviews on Yelp were written by owners, family or friends of the company. Never again.

Not content with driving people around the world's first industrial town, several of the drivers at Mantax Taxis had the great idea to pool their collective knowledge of the city's great landmarks, architecture and history and start offering Manchester Taxi Tours.
Whilst I've always preferred exploring cities on foot, I can see the appeal for those that don't have the time, energy or lung capacity to wander round with a map. All the drivers double as tour guides and are passionate about the city and it's history

Mantax is a very reliable taxi service, one of the largest taxi companies in Manchester. I've never had a problem with the taxi being late or a driver not knowing where they're going. They're a family run business and they've got both female and male drivers, something that will put nervous female travellers at ease, and they're all very friendly.
They have wheelchair accessible taxis and also mini buses to hire. You can pay by credit card too, always a bonus.
