I am an experienced and professional DBS checked guitar teacher who has been teaching for 15 years and playing for nearly 40 years. I remember how difficult and daunting it can be but I also know how rewarding it can be too. Learning and playing guitar has lead me to meet lots of interesting people and visit some amazing places. It has opened up opportunities that I may never had. I teach in a relaxed manner and I have various techniques to get across what you need from guitar tuition.

I've been playing guitar since I was 11(nearly 38 years now, shhh) and have been playing in bands since I was 15. I now record under the name Back Bone Shiver - a solo project. Effective teaching should be fun, I believe there is a contract between a teacher and a student that involves trust and an understanding of what the student needs form their teacher.
I run a small high tech studio which allows me to expand my teaching techniques and is a brilliant way of getting ideas across. I also use Audition and Audacity for audio editing, Guitar Pro for creating TABS(Guitar Music) and Photoshop to create lesson material. I am a 63 year old man who wanted to learn the 5 string banjo when I retired. After a year of learning bad habits and getting a bit demoralised I plucked up the courage to walk into Marks studio. Mark’s attitude and approach is very easy and welcoming. I would recommend him to anyone. Whilst I have a long way to go I feel I can now say “I play the banjo”. Give it a go.

My son had been having guitar lessons with Mark for a couple of years now and he has improved massively. Mark is fantastic and patient with him. He lets Dylan play the music that he wants as well as advising him on other artist that may be of interest to him. The lessons are fun and relaxed and Dylan really looks forward to his lesson each week. I couldn't recommend Mark enough.

My son and I have been having lessons with Mark for almost 2 years now. Mark is brilliant with my son who was a complete beginner whereas I'm an existing player who wanted to improve my playing - both of us have come on leaps and bounds since we started taking lessons with Mark. Mark always works with us on things we want to, and enjoy doing. In that time my son has written his own song which mark has professionally produced for him. Can't rate him highly enough!

I've been learning to play the guitar very intermittently for around 15 years, and Mark has greatly improved my confidence and ability in the few months I've been having lessons with him.
He listens to the concerns I have about my playing and provides detailed explanations as to how to overcome them, and exercises/techniques that can assist in my learning.
He is patient, knowledgeable and friendly, and his studio has all of the equipment and setup that you could possibly need.
