Not only will they shade your eyes against harsh sunlight, they'll also protect you from the hidden risk of ultraviolet rays. Overexposure to ultraviolet light can damage your eyes as well as your skin.

If children have poor vision, they will find it difficult to learn at school as well as enjoy everyday childhood activities. That is why NHS offers free eye tests to all children under 16 and full-time students under 19.
