Steve is passionate about making your eye examination a relaxed, informative and memorable experience. Apart from working as an Optometrist and Dispensing Optician, his vast experience and sense of adventure has taken him all over the world. Steve loves using the latest technology during his eye tests and he is accredited by the diabetic retinal screening program for the West Midlands.

I visited the opticians today with my daughter as I am looking to purchase a set of varifocals for the 1st time. We spent at least 15 minutes in there trying on various frames and discussing our thoughts etc. During our visit we were completely ignored by the staff and not once were we asked if we needed any assistance. We were totally shocked and left after a while. I really don’t understand why the staff would do this, maybe we didn’t pull up in a Range Rover or maybe it was plain racism, but we have never felt so unwelcome in our lives. In the last six months five members of our family from 14yrs to 70yrs old, have all had their glasses from Malcolm Gray. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. They are excellent at assessing all our different needs both medically and stylishly, going to any lengths to please and ensure we are happy with our glasses, varifocals, transition lenses or contact lenses. I have a very typical teenage son who cares about his image and street cred. He has needed to wear glasses for the last 2 years but has been very reluctant to wear them, particularly at school. Getting him to the opticians was not an easy task! At our last visit to his regular high street opticians, he came out very disillusioned! A friend recommended me to Malcolm Gray and wow what a difference it has made! We were made to feel very welcome; all staff were extremely helpful and attentive and really took the time to not only help and advice on the type of frames that would suit him but also explaining

Although I wear varifocal glasses normally, I had difficulty reading music on my tablet and keeping an eye on the conductor. I asked if it would be possible to have a pair of bifocals made to suit intermediate and distance vision.
Kathryn arranged an appointment for me to see Lesley who determined the suitable prescription, passed me on to Shelley who arranged for the new lenses to be fitted into one of my old frames.
Despite there being a bank holiday, I got the call to say that my glasses were ready within a week.
Excellent service as ever.

Cannot recommend Malcolm Gray highly enough. Excellent with my family including my 8 year old son, who can be nervous around machinery or anything unknown. Completely put at ease every time we visit. Personal attentive service that I have not experienced at any high street chain competitors. Well worth making the choice to use Malcolm Gray.

First time using this opticians and I was completely blown away by the professionalism and the friendliness of the staff.
The eye test was very thorough.
Steven explained every aspect of the test to me which I found very informative.

I wanted some new contact lenses and I was really pleased with the care the Optometrist took to get me the right lenses as well as assessing my eyes before recommending which lenses were best for me. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and made me feel welcome. I would highly recommend this business based on my experience.
