Volunteering is a GREAT way to GET INVOLVED with us, and support us. Not only that, it is well known that volunteers get much out of helping - they feel like they really make a difference and contribute to their own wellbeing. It's easy to support us by organising your own activity or get together with friends.
Taking on a personal challenge is another brilliant way to support Dorset Mind - plus we think it feels great too! Our existing services have all been replaced by telephone or video meetings until further notice. See here for our timetable of support, some times have changed. Please DO NOT attend any groups or 1-2-1 support in person yet, unless you've been directed to.

Services
We are Dorset Mind; we're a pioneering local charity that educates, challenges mental health stigma and inequality, and promotes recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience. Our support groups, counselling and accredited befriending service help people regain social skills. We also deliver educational wellbeing programmes for schools and workplaces and provide volunteer opportunities across all areas of the organisation.
We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem in Dorset gets support and respect. Dorset Mind will raise awareness within general and specific communities about mental ill health. That's to say we will educate people about symptoms - what they are, what to expect and how to spot them.
Trustee Liz Rowe Liz brings her experience across the health and social care sector, striving to represent adults and children inclusively. As a Dorset Mind Trustee, Charles brings his extensive experience of workplace wellbeing and prioritising employee mental health to the role. I found this one very difficult to score. On the one hand this charity does an awful lot to help people with mental health issues in the community. I cannot dispute that. On the other hand I had a terrible experience with them as an employer. I worked for them as an Active Monitoring Practitioner in April 2021 and wasn't provided with adequate training based on the types of clients we were receiving. Many of which were suicidal. As a result of the stress in the role I went off sick with my mental health. Whilst off sick with stress and depression I was expected to call in everyday and also attend
