The health and safety industry is full of jargon and abbreviations, and it may be difficult for even the most seasoned industry professional to keep up with all of the specialised terminologies. Building on the NEBOSH Technical Glossary, British Safety Services is compiling a list of definitions for common health and safety terminology.
The course is designed to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, Approved Code of Practice L74 which requires that where a First Aider is not legally required, an employer must still appoint a person to take charge of first aid provision, and this course provides that person with the necessary knowledge to do so.
This person is generally known in the industry as an Appointed Person. It is desirable that delegates have prior knowledge of craneage operations; he/she may be a site Manager/Supervisor, an Engineer/Surveyor or possibly a Slinger/Signaller. The course covers planning lifting operations for both Mobile cranes and Tower cranes.
