Hannah Zakari is an independent boutique located in Edinburgh, UK specialising in items which are designed or handmade by indie designers. It was founded and is owned by Rachael Griffiths in 2004. 2004 we opened our online shop selling handmade items with found treasures made by Rachael. 2005 we extended our online range to include curated work by other indie designers from home and abroad.
2010 we opened our beautiful boutique in Edinburgh's Old Town again with a range curated by Rachael to introduce new work to our customers in real life. 2020 we closed our boutique and are now selling online only again, with the same aims and aesthetics and passion for beautiful, unique pieces. So what to expect from our little store.

I am only being slightly dramatic when I say that this boutique changed my life - it's lovely and cool and hip and cute. The best shop I stepped into while in the UK. Everything seems so specially chosen - the aesthetic is perfectly curated and original. I bought several souvenirs and really enjoyed just looking at each item they had on display. The jewelry is beautiful and the patches/pins are perfect gifts to bring home to friends and family.

I LOVE the locally made necklace I bought here. And the young woman who helped me shared the story of Bobby as I admired (and purchased) a patch. If you like unique jewelry, then you must avoid the crowded tartan shops and drop in for a relaxing time admiring the selection of pieces at Hannah Zakari.

Five enthusiastic stars for this sweet little business which showcases the cutest of handmade goodies from indie designers.
I assumed a lovely lady named Hannah opened this shop but even the reason behind the name is super cute! - 'Hanazakari' is Japanese for 'blooming' or 'blossoming' and reflects the business-owner's love of Japan and its culture. I love this heartfelt reasoning behind the shop name and it also creates a little bit of mystery since Hannah Zakari isn't a real person. Also, the shop itself is literally blossoming. - There's so much

Best shop in town for amazing jewellery! Hannah Zakari is a hidden gem in the Grassmarket, just on Candlemaker row which is left from Armstrongs Vintage Shop. It's busting full of playful, fun and beautiful jewellery, but also has an excellent selection of cards, pins, prints and t shirts. If you're a fan of Stay Home Club, Datter Industries, Lou Taylor and Laura Berger, you need to visit asap. Everything is really affordable and it's my go to shop for gifts for friends. I love that they support new and upcoming designers - they always have such unique and unusual things. Best way

Don't come in here unless you're prepared to spend all of your money. Lovely jewelry, trinkets, and prints abound, lots of folks from etsy have their stuff here which is always neat to see. Really lovely selection and many of the jewelry pieces were price reasonably at 20-40 pounds, so it's a good place to shop for gifts!

Very very hard to leave without buying something. Jewelry from independent designers, art prints and bags are everywhere and all as wonderful as each other. I'm a fan of an acrylic necklace, so this place is a dream. Prices vary by designer so there tends to be something for every budget. Just be prepared to spend.

Hannah Zakari is one of those shops where I could easily spend my entire bank balance on all the beautiful and quirky jewellery inside. I went in recently to buy Christmas presents for my sisters, and ended up taking lots of photos to send my boyfriend as 'ideas'... fingers crossed something finds its way to my stocking!
Last year I got a necklace from here which unfortunately broke after about two hours' wear... however they arranged for a replacement to be sent by the jeweller and it all got sorted without any fuss.
And if you're not in the area, they have a website too

Guaranteed to put a smile on your face; this is a gem of a boutique on Candlemaker Row; this shop is full of cute, quirky and individual jewellery, accessories and prints from indie designers.
With pieces starting a just a few pounds, this shop is great for gifts but also has some more unusual pieces that you can't get anywhere else; (think Margaux Lange's jewellery made from recycled Barbies or a miniature wooden boombox necklace)!
Friendly staff and varied, beautiful displays always make this shop a joy to visit.

The best place in Edinburgh to buy a quirky gift, the perfect print or some pretty accessories! Hannah Zakari is an independent boutique specialising in items which are designed or handmade by indie designers. Many designers are Edinburgh-based, whilst others hail from all over the world. With friendly and approachable staff, Hannah Zakari is filled to the brim with beautiful things and it's without doubt the best place in town to buy greeting cards for all occasions as well.

Absolutely ace shop celebrating the very best of indie design for women, and especially jewellery/prints. The shop's small and cosy, with friendly staff and unusual, beautiful pieces that won't find anywhere else across various price points - from pretty things for under a tenner to showstopping baubles for much more. I'm a complete fangirl as I think their selection is brilliant - the online shop's also great for those who aren't based in Edinburgh.

Practically perfect in every way, Hannah Zakari is one of the most adorable shops in Edinburgh. It's a must-visit for anyone who favours hand crafted over high street. Once an online shop only, it became a bricks and mortar premises in 2010, selling quirky jewellery, pretty prints and cute cards. Everything here has been handpicked – and that affection and attention to detail shines through. You'll find local talent sitting next to items made in Japan and Australia. Which reminds me... there actually is no ‘Hannah’; the shop’s name comes from the Japanese for ‘blossoming’.

A great shop!
It has watches, jewelry, prints, bags, anything you could want if you are looking for a unique gift (for yourself OR someone else).
I was also impressed by the range of prices, many indie shops stick to one price range but there was everything here from inexpensive and fun acrylics to much more 'cher' pieces.
It will be my first stop when I want to impress out of town friends that think Edinburgh is all tourist shops and historical monuments (not that those are bad either!)

Oh my goodness, I just adored Hannah Zakari when I visited on the weekend after a tip-off on Twitter by the husband of the woman behind the jewellery range of the same name (and now, year-old shop!), who must have a search set up on Twitter for people looking for Edinburgh tips.
Well, his recommendation was well-placed because I just loved Hannah Zakari. They stock such a good range of indie designers, excelling in greeting cards, bags, jewellery, stationery, art prints, knick-knacksthe list goes on. I couldn't help but snap up about £50 worth of items, but could've easily spent more
