When it comes to mixing, the possibilities are endless. We can take stems from any past or present session, even from another studio, and use our experience, ears and equipment to get the best possible mix from your tracks.

At Blackhill Studios we always try to help artists with creative direction, songwriting and understanding the modern industry. Some early guidance in this can go a long way. We always offer a longer pre-production session to anyone planning a larger project (3-5 track EP or album) to help make sure a plan is in place for the launch, offer ideas for funding, and to talk about potential people to get in touch with.
Our custom built live room is acoustically treated to create a very tight drum sound that can then be effected to be as small or as big as possible to suit different genres. It also creates a very articulate vocal room, allowing microphones to shine and bring clarity to a lead vocal without the usual claustrophobic feeling and boxy sound of smaller booths.

I booked Blackhill Studios as a 14th birthday present for my son Jacob to record some drums. The studio experience was fantastic from start to finish. My initial contact with Courtney was professional friendly and informative with clear communication. On the day both Courtney and Tom were friendly efficient laid back and professional and gave Jacob an experience to remember. Courtney was excellent looking after us both and particularly with Jacob helping him to set things up, to understand the studio requirements and to help him write some lyrics which she sang brilliantly over the tracks he had

The best recording studio in Southampton and a perfect recording venue for our second album. Tom was a real pleasure to work with and offered really helpful advice and professionalism throughout the whole process. Amazing range of equipment for recording all of our strange instruments and comfortable facilities for hanging out all day doing recording.

Tom runs a brilliant studio and was more than welcoming. He produced and mixed an excellent sounding bunch of songs from some very quickly done live recordings. Not only that but he has a wealth of industry knowledge and has introduced me to the local music scene and helped me to start getting out there. I'll be coming back again to record a proper single as soon as I can.

By far the best experience I've had in a studio. Tom is so passionate and professional that it's always a joy to make music with him.
The studio has amazing equipment and you feel right at home on the comfy sofa surrounded by beautiful guitars and mood lighting!
If you're looking for somewhere to record this is the only place I would recommend.
