In 1975 Mr Bray started David Bray Opticians in Matlock, Derbyshire. With a belief in the values and service that an independent optician can offer to its patients, the practice was able to provide customers with the highest standard of eye care possible. After Mr Bray retired, his legacy has continued and we decided we wanted to make a difference to the world.
David Bray Opticians has been providing eye care in Matlock since opening its practice in 1970. Making the move to establish himself as an independent optometrist, Mr David Bray started his practice from humble beginnings. With help from family and friends and a testing room build from the frame of one of his uncle's old green houses, David was ready for business!
Established in 1930, Richards Opticians is one of the longest standing independent opticians in Newark. Originally started by the McNicol family. Mr McNicol senior managed the practice before handing the business over to his son, who was famously known for playing the organ to his patients, many of whom still come to us today!
Lindberg is the company behind a stunning range of luxurious glasses frames, all individually designed in Denmark. The company crafts its frames in combinations of titanium and acetate, meaning each model is completely screw free. Light yet solid, each Lindberg frame has been designed to offer the highest levels of comfort to wearers and provide the perfect fit.

The service quality is excellent, and the staff are efficient and friendly. The practice is very well resourced with state-of-the-art equipment, some of which I haven't seen anywhere else. Above all, the standard of are that I've received has been far higher (more skilful and knowledgeable) than any I've in the past, both in Leicester and elsewhere.

Excellent! Lovely service, really outstanding, caring optician who took the time to talk me through everything. I was a bit worried about staying on here after lovely Mr Farmilo retired but the new young optician is wonderful. Always get very good advice too with choosing frames - best opticians I have ever been to. Thoroughly recommend.

I visited Farmilo with my wife, we were welcomed very nicely.
Harry did my eye test in great detail. The technology and equipment used to check my eyes were so advanced. I haven't seen this technology which is called 3D OCT scan that checks the back of the eyes. Harry explained and showed my eyes images on the screen with detailed information. I was very pleased. I would highly recommend this optician to everyone.

Farmilo is a wonderful optometrists. I require annual eye checks and had been going to a chain for years and decided to try something local and independent. I felt really taken care of, everyone knows what they are talking about whether it be eye care or frame styeles. The whole team were a delight and in the end have bought a new pair of glasses that are something new and different. I've left feeling excited and understanding more about my eye health.

First class service from David and all the team, with careful and patient explanations of the pros and cons of each choice to be made when we were selecting new frames and lenses. No request was too much trouble, and a variety of frames in different finishes were ordered in to allow us to make our final choices. Two existing pairs of glasses were also re-glazed and the frames overhauled and smartened up. Very happy to recommend.

I was greeted this morning by two most helpful gentlemen, one of whom kindly mended my wife's sun-glasses and then secured a new glasses case for me. Beth saw me promptly and she was extremely professional in her handling of me and giving me the reassurances it is always good to have when it comes to precious eyesight. All in all it was a first-class experience, and it was I who asked to give a review (something which incidentally I do very rarely!)
