Top notch food, my favourite restaurant in Durham. Always great service and it’s a pleasure to eat there. Highly Recommended!

To be frank, my group weren't impressed. Our reservation was for 9:15 and we were seated half an hour afterwards (~9:45). The menu is extensive and so there is a lot of variety which is good. Some prices are reasonable but some are definitely not such as a small bowl of plain boiled rice being £3.45. Drinks are about a normal price. We ended up getting our food at 10:45, which is an hour and a half after our reservation. All of our food was tasty, but definitely lacked the spice we were expecting for a naga chili dish and other self proclaimed very spicy foods. Poppadoms and naan were good (The

Lovely dinner tonight. Our food was fantastic. I had the vegetarian Thali everything was cooked to perfection . The lamb Bhuna was gorgeous as well. Lovely owner and staff all friendly and happy to chat. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Called in on the off chance of a table during the Lumiere and were seated straight away. We haven’t eaten here for a few years and remembered The Spice Lounge being amazing the last time we came. It certainly… didn’t disappoint this time either! Beautiful food, fantastic, friendly service & huge portions! We will certainly be returning again!

I found this restaurant on google maps while visiting Durham. I absolutely loved that it was "hidden" in an alleyway behind a big church in the city center. The food was fantastic, too. The wait staff was great at suggesting something to fit my tastes (which was VERY SPICY). Spice lounge did not disappoint!

Only Indian restaurant we'll go to. Absolutely fantastic every time. The staff curry and Hariali are next level. 😋

Excellent, the Madras was by far the best curry we tried and easily one of the best currys I've eaten anywhere, great service just take cash as the card machine is temperamental.

We went for a family meal on a quiet midweek evening. Service was efficient and the staff friendly. The food was very good with the exception of one of our party was given undercooked chicken which spoiled the meal for her. On pointing this out we were told we would not be charged for it. Prices were reasonable and the restaurant clean.

Went for a late valentines meal with my boyfriend - It gets very busy! The atmosphere is welcoming and the decor pleasant, although we were seated in a bit of an awkward spot so people did have to squeeze past sometimes (again, probably not an issue at quieter times!)
The food was all excellent - I'm a big fan of hariyali (who doesn't love bright green foods!) and I would recommend it highly from here. The portions were big enough to fill us up and provide the next day's lunch as well, and the naan bread and vegetable pilau we ordered were also great!

Yummy food! Got a table no problem about 9pm on a Sunday. Enough food to take away for leftovers the next day.
