Elves & Fairies Woodland Nursery
We have one open day a year in which anyone is welcome to come and visit us. Date for 2020 to be confirmed. For prospective parents, visits can be arranged with a phone call to the manager Kirsteen Freer on 01725517807 We also welcome other settings to come and see us in action, there is a small fee for this to cover the cost of the extra staffing needed for this.

Our next Adventure in The Woods days will run during May half term and the Summer holidays. At the Elves and Fairies Woodland Nursery finding time to experience nature is of high priority. We are an Outdoor Nursery and Forest School, with a cosy indoor space that we use in extreme weather. We believe that the closer to nature the children are the happier they will be and the more they will learn.
Services
At the Edmondsham Forest School and the Elves & Fairies Woodland Nursery, the philosophy is to inspire and encourage individuals of all ages. Through positive outdoor experiences using nature as the teacher. Forest School provides holistic development through self directed learning. By allowing individuals to participate in achievable tasks and activities.
This group offers a calm and enjoyable opportunity for families to make friends, sing songs and rhymes and go for walks and picnics together. And for those who wish to send their child to our Kindergarten, the Toddler Group provides a gentle, introductory experience, which facilitates their transition into Kindergarten.
Adventure in The Woods holiday sessions are open to all children from 3 - 8 and 8 -11 years of age, whether or not they attend Kindergarten. We also welcome the 2 year old's who attend Kindergarten during the term time. These are full day sessions, beginning at 8:30am and ending at 4:15pm. Single and multiple sessions are available.
Due to being an Outside setting, the likelihood of your child getting wet and muddy whilst having fun and learning is quite high. It is really important the the children are dressed so that they stay warm and dry all day. Layers really help during the colder months. Please ensure that their Wellies are big enough for them to wear a thin cotton pair of socks with a thick Woollen pair on top and still have room for wriggling their toes.
Children who are eligible for the free Early Education Funding are entitled to 15 or 30 hours of free education per week, for 38 weeks of the year, or the equivalent number of hours stretched throughout the whole year. This funding is roughly 1 per hour less than our hourly rate and does not cover the cost of meals, snacks, drinks or specialized lessons e.g.

My sons have attended the Adventure In The Woods days over the holidays and just love it. At the end of the day they have so many things to tell me, are so relaxed and have that healthy and happy tired glow that only a day of fresh air and the freedom to explore nature can bring. They look forward to returning again soon.

Brilliant and so so refreshing to see and hear about..I taught in around 200 schools... this is so so needed... what a wonderful example you all are to the world.. We are part of nature and always will be .No child is designed to sit in a box and not move.. Wishing you so much success and all the best.. Conscious women leaders for children.. and a love of the earth.. Great work you are doing on so many levels.. I will be writing about education in the future and this is how it should be :) .

If my children could spend the rest of their schooling experience here I'd be the happiest Mum on the planet. I was so sad when their learning journey had to end and school began as there are numerous wonderful benefits to this enchanting place. Surrounded by the Beauty of nature with dedicated inspirational Staff and nutritious food with opportunities for imagination surrounding the children, it's just paradise. I am so Happy that ofsted saw all the benefits and this place is thriving, it absolutely deserves every success.

Our grandson goes, his speech has come on hugely, he's become more independent. The joy shown in his face when telling us 're hands on mud, clay fun all the mucky things boys love is priceless. A fantastic start to the many years of schooling to come. Thank you.

This is exactly how education should be and I cannot recommend it enough. Outside and immersed in the wonder of nature and the gentleness of time passing, without pressure; what could be a better way to spend our earliest years? Well done to the kind people who create these happy days with their inspiration and understanding of our little people xx

Both my daughters went to Elves and Fairies from the mother and toddler group through to kindergarten. It is such a wonderful nursery, I can't recommend it highly enough. They had such amazing experiences that you do not get from mainstream nurseries and preschool settings. Everyday different; baking bread, collecting from the forest for art or… cooking projects, den building, learning about the natural world around them and so much more. The staff are so nurturing and I felt very content leaving the girls in their safe hands. I look forward to my baby boy starting his forest school journey
