We visited the auction house yesterday to view the Friday 500. when we spoke with one of the auctioneers he said that the auction had 500 lots hence the name.
Sadly this was not the case and yes I should have checked but he had said it was 500 lots so why wouldn't I believe him? It made sense 2001 too 2500 lot numbers so 500 lots.
I watched online the first 200 lots and made an estimate of the lots per hour rate. So I knew roughly when the item I wanted would come up. Unfortunately there were approx. 50 lots missing in the sequence and I missed my item that I wanted.
Perhaps it should be called

An auction house who pretty much gets it all right. Requests for condition reports are handled quickly and efficiently without having to ask twice. Welcoming friendly receptionist is always a positive. A smile and a nice word from the auctioneer who fetches you your lots on collection adds so much to the customer experience.
The only thing to improve is the Bellmans live bidding platform. Looks lovely but for some reason takes an age to load the images and bidding box. I have super fast broadband so it's not that, and I use easyliveauction and the saleroom without issue. Not a huge problem in

Would give 0 if i could. We had an auctioneer called will come to assess assets. He was very quick to say not interested in everything and that we were better off getting house clearance. However, suggesting that he can set us up with someone. My theory is that this is because he mention some furniture which I am sure house clearance would sell him. (Trying not to pay a penny for what he really wanted) with pleasure will never use again.
Additionally prior to this evaluation we have had 3 others interested in what he says he didn't want! Very funny that not! Bit suspicious if u ask me!

Auctioneer was in such a hurry to race through and finish, he ignored my live bid which was made in plenty of time before the gavel came down. He didn't even bother looking up at the screen. One would think as the bidding was between two of us, he would have the foresight to see if both of us were still bidding. Clearly not! A follow up email to their administrator asking what happened was equally dismissed. Having worked in the industry for 25 years in London and New York, I've found my experience with Bellmans extremely disappointing and questionable. I'm sure the consignor would not be pleased

Bought a painting through the Saleroom, as couldn't attend the auction day. Sixty some odd pounds (including fees), wasted on a late 20th century oil painting cracking and crazing all over.
I understand auction houses offer a a condition report before buying - but when time's pushed for most or it's on the spur of the moment, they need to mention the flaws in the description. Photos don't show all. It's wrong, not with just this auction house, but with all (as is the ridiculous buyers fees they all charge, on top of sellers fees - but that's another matter!).
Beware to check before buying from

Review from a removal man delivering to this place :-
Friendly staff that made us teas and coffees. Forklift on site. Pictures went in nice large polystyrene-lined crates on wheels. Cartons went in large metal cage pallets.
We delivered a consignment of Bulgarian hand-carved furniture and oil paintings and they were optimistic on the price that it would fetch.
