Established in 1981 by Garve Hessenberg, The Picture Conservation and Restoration Studios have been Experts in the field of Art Conservation for over thirty years. We regularly receive commissions from Private Collectors, Galleries and Insurance Companies. We have also undertaken Conservation and Restoration work for Clarence House, Oxford University, St James Palace and The Royal Military Police.
The varnish yellows and darkens. Far more seriously, the linen canvas rapidly deteriorates with time and can easily be perforated leaving a weakened support for the paint films which can crack and become detached, forever lost to future generations. The Picture Conservation and Restoration Studios are Experienced in the practice of the Cleaning and Removing of aged varnishes.
We have experience of Conserving and Restoring Antique Original Watercolours, Limited Edition Screen Prints, Aged Pastels as well as Lithographs and Drawings. Modern Prints, such as those by Banksy, often require work in order to restore their value. We have experience of handling these works and minimising wear and tear and damage.
