The Black Lion is a cosy, friendly village pub run by a husband and wife team. We are situated in the picturesque village of Abergorlech which lies on the banks of the Cothi River between Llandeilo and Carmarthen. Just a few steps from the pub you can take advantage of signposted walks in the Brechfa forest or the thrilling Brechfa Mountain Bike Trails.
As well as our traditional Welsh bar, we have a restaurant/coffee shop serving home-made food produced and sourced locally in Wales wherever possible. All of our cakes are also home-made. We serve locally roasted Coaltown Coffee and some yummy Teapigs teas.

Services
The highly acclaimed Brechfa Mountain Bike Trails are accessed just a few steps from our door in the village of Abergorlech the second of the two entrances being around 3 minutes away. We are the closest place to eat and drink from both entrances. The Gorlech Trail (Red route) starts at the Abergorlech entrance in the Forestry car park.

Outstanding in every respect. Food generally, roasts & service especially. The best roast potatoes ever. By far the best pub I’ve been to in South Wales with great forest walks by a wonderful scenic river & all levels of mountain bike trails close by. Do not miss this gem with tables next to river outside or inside. Booking essential.

Small with great quality, yummy homemade with a twist! We had not booked but enjoyed a 'bar snack' in the form of sausage roll with salad and dressing, coffee and tea, beautifully presented and delicious.
Pretty table decorations, fire ready to roar, community notice board advertising local stories, up and coming events. Definitely worth booking because the menus were fab and there's only 26 seats inside!!

This little village is beautiful and The Black Lions food is a must. This was our second visit and every morsel of food was delish. We have already told the landlord we will be back. What is really lovely is that their beer garden is on 2 levels across the road next to a beautiful river it is dog friendly which is a win win for us.

Wonderful and welcoming staff who were helpful and efficient. Food was very good quality & a real treat. Good selection of ales and lagers as well as spirits and wines. Beautiful location with the forest walks just down the road. Good outdoor seating area across the road / lane. Menu was very good with a nice selection all on chalkboard both inside & in the seating area. Dog friendly.

Visited again the other day, would advise booking a table for evenings inside or daytime outside as it can get busy.
Food was very nice, I had fish and chips with musy peas and tartar sauce.
Mrs had mushrooms on toast with garlic and mustard sauce, she said it was "lush"
Desserts were great.
Prices very reasonable considering quality of food, location and outdoor eating facilities.
Staff very friendly.
Well worth a visit after a walk in the nearby woods.
