York Orthodontics is located at 64 Marygate, York close to the city centre, in an idyllic location overlooking the river Ouse and the famous Museum gardens. In 1995 Dr Jonathan Hunter established York Orthodontics, a specialist orthodontic practice exclusively for the provision of orthodontic advice and treatment for children and adults.
You will be provided with all the information you need to make a decision about orthodontic treatment, without incurring any costs. This service is intended to provide the vast majority of people interested in orthodontic treatment with outline information and costs without the expense of a full orthodontic consultation.
To achieve the best possible improvement to your smile the majority of patient's will require a fixed braces, known in the dental profession as fixed dental appliances. Small metal or ceramic attachments are bonded to each individual tooth and in some cases metal rings/bands are also fitted to the back molar teeth.
Sometimes a fixed appliance is not the ideal appliance to correct the required changes to the bite, and removable braces have to be used. Removable braces have an acrylic base and stainless steel components to hold the appliance firmly onto the teeth.
Movement of teeth is achieved by the stainless steel springs being distorted out of shape during activation by the dentist, so that as they move back to their original shape, they pull or push the miss-aligned teeth with them.I was amazed at how quickly my teeth began to move once the braces were fitted.

Functional braces, or functional appliances as they are known in the dental industry, are a specialised type of removable braces made of acrylic and stainless steel components, and are worn on the upper and lower teeth at the same time. They are used to correct the way the upper and lower teeth fit over each other.

Had my braces fitted on Friday and had spent the previous several days a little bit terrified and was fending off some major panick on Friday morning! But Jonathan and the team were so understanding, patient and accomodating that within moments of being sat in the chair I was totally relaxed.
They said we could go at my pace, stop whenever I felt I wanted a break and they checked how I was feeling every couple of minutes as well as explaining everything that they were doing - they couldn't have read what I needed any better.
Ended up actually ENJOYING being there and feel completly comfortable

If you're looking for an orthodontist to take care of _you_, as well as your teeth, then I would highly recommend Jonathan and York Orthodontics. I did not want to go with an over-marketed clinic, where my needs might be secondary to that of the 'brand', and with York Orthodontics you definitely get a personal experience. Jonathan and his team goes out of their way to make you feel informed, comfortable and cared for.

I have severe dentist/teeth anxiety so I was really really nervous to start the process of getting braces with Jonathan. However he has been nothing but reassuring, kind and professional and generally amazing. I got my braces fitted today and I’m so happy with them and the process. The safety measures that have been put in at the practice in light of COVID-19 made me feel very safe and comfortable. I couldn’t recommend York Orthodontics enough.

I cannot thank or recommend Jonathan enough for giving me, not only a smile I’m proud of, but also for helping me overcome severe anxiety issues, especially brought about in the dentists chair.
