North Edinburgh Childcare Centre
The organisation developed in response to an identified need for affordable, flexible childcare in North Edinburgh that would enable local parents and carers to access increased opportunities for work, training or education. A group of local women campaigned over a number of years for the creation of a custom built (state of the art) childcare facility.

In the Spring of 1997, the dream became a reality. Since that time, our organisation has gone from strength to strength and grown into the multi-stranded operation that we are today. Our service has separate divisions offering pre-school care in the centre, out of school care for 180 children in 6 local primary schools.
Services
Our nursery at Ferry Road Avenue is located within our own purpose built centre and is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide 66 full time equivalent places for children aged 4 months-5 years. We are open 50 weeks of the year from 8.00am to 6.00pm each day and we work in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council to deliver funded early learning and childcare hours for eligible 3-5 year olds.
Victoria Quay Nursery is a workplace nursery for Scottish Government employees. Located within the Scottish Government building at Victoria Quay the nursery is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide 37 full day equivalent places for children aged 0-5 years. Our opening hours are 7:30am - 6:30pm Monday - Friday excluding public holidays and other Scottish Government closures.
We currently run 5 of school clubs across North Edinburgh and 2 in Juniper Green. Please see individual clubs for specific details on each. All of our clubs are registered with the Care Inspectorate and all of our workers are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. Our clubs offer children a wide range of fun and exciting learning opportunities based on their needs and interests.
Information about the club is below and a Team Leader can be contacted on 0131 332 8001 or via info@northedinburghchildcare.co.uk. We are registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide 32 after school care places during school term times and 40 full day holiday care places. Please note that there may be times during holiday periods when we cannot run the club from the school due to maintenance work being carried out.
Information about the club is below and Niall Cockburn can be contacted on 0131 332 8001 or via niall.cockburn@northedinburghchildcare.co.uk. We have designated space in Fort Early Years Centre and Fort Community Centre. Children are collected from Trinity Primary School by staff who escort them on foot to the club.

Critical: Reliability
The staff are incompetent, my son is celiac and on two occasions they had two accidents with food and I had to hospitalize my son for a week.

Terrible company. They do NOT treat their staff well and management have a horrible attitude. Would not recommend this company as they do not care and are difficult to deal with. Had a lovely experience with the staff members however it is the managers that seem to be reluctant to do their job.

Dreadful company, leaves staff with too much work to do with little support, if any at all. The staff are lovely and you can tell they are passionate about the kids, but unfortunately the lack of support given by management makes it difficult for them to work effectively. The company also treats the staff badly and ignores their needs, which is demonstrated by the high turnover of staff. Avoid.

Staff think its acceptable to drink everyday just to cope with their own children.... imagine her looking after your child.... disgusting.

We have three children. Over the course of our parenthood we went through a number of different private nurseries. You cannot image the difference the North Edinburgh Nursery made in our life. As parents we understand the importance of providing loving, caring environment and at the same time making sure that they are developing the skills which help them in future life. However, despite understanding the importance of those points, for working parents it is always challenging to keep our smiling faces on and find time to work with them on their (reading, counting and other life) skills. Not even worthy of a single star. This company are awful to deal with and do not treat their staff well. They do not put the money into equipment for the children to enjoy and run their childcare on the bare minimum. Avoid if you can.
