Services
At Croft and Graves Optometrists we believe that your eye examination should be tailored to your personal requirements. We ensure our comprehensive service addresses your individual needs, monitoring for changes and making eye care suggestions based on your unique occupational and recreational situation.
Our longer appointment times allow you to make the most of our comprehensive eye exam. We take the time to get to know you and your eyes, enabling us to deliver a personalised service that is 100% tailored to your unique vision. With thousands of eye examinations, OCT scans and dispensed spectacles under their belts, our expert team is highly qualified to advise on your eye care and eyewear options.
We are proud to be the first practice in the region of Tynedale to make the substantial investment to purchase an Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner, which means that you benefit from our vast experience of taking the images and analysing the results. This revolutionary scanning device uses light waves to capture detailed 3D images of the layers that make up the back of your eye.
Cataracts are when the lens, a small transparent disc inside your eye, develops cloudy patches. Over time these patches usually become bigger causing blurry, misty vision and eventually blindness. When we're young, our lenses are usually like clear glass, allowing us to see through them. As we get older, they start to become frosted, like bathroom glass, and begin to limit our vision.
Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes, caused by high blood sugar levels damaging the back of the eye (retina). It can cause blindness if left undiagnosed and untreated. However, it usually takes several years for diabetic retinopathy to reach a stage where it could threaten your sight.

A few weeks ago during an eye test at Croft and Graves they identified a macular degeneration problem with my right eye and they then notified the NHS. With the help of Mr Croft and his staff I was given an appointment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Newcastle Eye Hospital.
I attended the RVI last week and after various tests the Consultant confirmed Mr Croft's diagnosis of wet macular degeneration which would eventually lead to loss of vision. On the Consultant's recommendation I started a course of treatment immediately with an injection into the eye. The benefits of the injection are already

Friendly and very professional opticians. There is a fantastic range of frames to choose from, and the 3 pairs of glasses I bought recently have much nicer frames and better quality lenses than the previous ones I had from spec savers. My eyes have been much more comfortable with the new glasses. It's worth paying a little bit more for an infinitely better quality product and service.
