Services
The Mead family have been farming in the Chiltern Hills since before 1860. Originally the Mead's came out from London to produce hay and straw for the working horses of London. Simon and Chris are the sixth generation to farm the spot they call home. The farm has always had a mixture of enterprises.
We are a traditional mixed farm with arable crops, cattle and sheep. We believe that mixed farms help support sustainable farming practises which are beneficial to both the farmer and the surrounding environment, encouraging local wildlife to thrive. We have a number of wildlife schemes on our farm.
We are a family business and believe in good old fashion values, priding ourselves on producing our own Made BY Mead products. Our Aberdeen Angus are reared to the highest standards of quality and welfare. Aberdeen Angus is a native breed which has naturally marbled meat making it exceptionally tender and delicious.
We have and will always will be committed to championing local produce and its producers. The Chilterns is a fantastically diverse area with numerous local producers. Having met and talked to many, we all agreed that the Chilterns needed a local food destination whereby local producers can thrive, support and network with each other.
Sustainable agriculture is all about working alongside the surrounding environment and its wildlife. We are part of several schemes that ensure the longevity of our local wildlife. Whether its the development of food sources or the enhancement of habitats, we aim to increase the biodiversity of the patch we call home.

Went to Meads farm shop for the first time today and I was very surprised and disappointed at the lack of friendliness and welcome. I was literally bleated at by 2 of the staff, which could have said 'good afternoon' and after saying it was my first visit, should probably be 'how can I help you?' At first I was impressed by all the yummy things available, but don't think I'll return soon. Such a pity from a local shop.

Stopped here on a tour of the local area with my wife.
You can buy various food in the quantity you want both frozen and dried.
Which is a great idea to both save the planet (reusable packaging) and also if you're only catering for one or two people.
They offer a huge range of locally made produce as well so definitely worth a look.

Excellent farm shop with a charming cafe. We found lots of nice fresh produce along with various baked goods and other items. There are lot of locally produced items like rapeseed oil, ice cream and oats, along with quite a wide variety of frozen and cupboard life goods. They have a good selection of truly excellent sourdough bread from a bakery in Tring, which is worth the trip alone.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, we will surely return!
