Since 1998 all tow bars produced for M class passenger vehicles have had to be European Type Approved. This means that they have to be designed to mount to the homologated points provided by the vehicle manufacturer. Once the initial tow bar design for a vehicle is made it has to undergo a punishing test on a stress tensile testing machine and endure two million cycles at forces input at loadings calculated for the car.
Tow bar electrics are reasonably easy to understand but, on today's cars, no longer easy to install. Most modern cars have what are called multiplexed or CANbus wiring harnesses which, in simple terms, means that the wires have shared data and signals travelling on them. Consequently, on multiplexed vehicles it is no longer possible (or recommended) to simply join the vehicle's lighting wires to the seven core trailer wiring.

Thank you to Bryan and the others at EECO for making a replacement window for my 2005 caravan. There was an initial mistake that resulted in the window initially being supplied with a silver painted border, but after i got on the phone they arranged a replacement for me with no fuss and delivered just a few days later.
The window is a decent match for the old one, just perhaps a shade lighter. The finish is immaculate and it fits well. The main visible difference from the outside is that there is no screen-printed dot pattern (they mention this on their website) so, since I opted not to have the
