Halseys Deli & Eatery
Cheese selection can be intimidating, especially when confronted with over 60 of the world's great cheeses to choose from. We make it our business not just to know about our cheeses, but also to know what complements or contrasts with each cheese to create a new experience. Our hand-picked selection of crackers, biscuits, pickles & chutneys are carefully selected to enhance the flavours of the cheese.

Sourcing the world's finest quality teas and coffees since Clipper ships raced the oceans. We have a wide selection of loose leaf teas to suit all tastes. From the classic amber maltiness of our English Breakfast blend to exotic herbal infusions, whether you enjoy your cuppa black or white, with or without sugar or a slice of lemon you will find your perfect tea in our range.
Services
We source food from local and international producers to give you the opportunity to try the best of what is on offer. From the essential everyday stalwarts of the discerning household, to the esoteric tastes of the cheese aficionado you'll find we have a selection to satisfy. We know a lot about our cheeses and take time to understand the qualities and characteristics of each dairy and its produce.

I love this place for coffee and lunch. Very impressed with the cleaning and safety measures they have in place to keep us safe in these Covid times. I love the Blue Mountain coffee as an Americano with a bit of cold milk

A big thank you to Kim at Halseys Deli, for putting together a lovely Christmas hamper and delivering it to a special friend in Hitchin. I would definitely recommend using this deli for quality products and excellent customer service.

I cannot praise Halsey's Deli enough. Mark has kindly organised for a hamper to be put together ready for collection within the hour. Mark was very knowledgeable and accommodating to meet my request. I organised for a taxi to collect the parcel and due to the road closure another member of the Halsey's team promptly took the parcel to the taxi. Thank you to Mark and team for saving the day. Highly recommend.

The “eat out to help out” deal is excellent! Had lunch today with two friends in the market square, lunch was provided by Halsey’s, lovely atmosphere with live music, excellent table service. Would recommend!

My other half and I have just had the most delicious toastie here and a coffee. It’s the first time we’ve been here as we’re just about to move to the area. I decided to download the app and order through that… which was quick, simple and easy. There is the option to order inside too though if you’re not into using apps. Our food was brought out to us and the service was friendly, quick and efficient. The toastie also came with a sauce which was to die for! We’re really looking forward to coming back when we’re more local. Thank you!

Homemade Tai soup to die for and best coffee I've had away from home in a long time! Great value for money, friendly helpful staff. Lovely location, tasteful (!) interior. Restful and calm! We are not local but will definitely return when we visit Hitchin again.

Went in yesterday morning with all intentions of having a coffee, ended up having breakfast. The staff were delightful, talkative and happy. Even talking together they seemed to all get on well.
The customer experience was brilliant and very quick serving coffee and breakfast, was with a nice amount of conversation to add to it.
Did not feel out of place being alone as was made to feel welcomed. I always use this cafe with my parents but will definitely use more now.

Going to Halseys for Sunday brunch or a hot roast meat sandwich on a Saturday was always something we enjoyed, until a few weeks ago when our Sunday brunch experience was terrible due to the poor service we received. We wrote a review on here detailing our experience and the owner quickly responded to our review apologising. He stated that they had had some staffing issues but commented that wasn't an excuse for the dreadful service we had encountered and assured us he would be dealing with the issues raised.
Everyone can have a bad day and so last week we decided to give Halseys one last

Expensive delicatesen that has been in Hitchin for years until it had to close temporarily a few years ago for hygiene reasons. Everything is expensive in here and I am not sure the quality matches the prices. OK for a cup of tea in their coffee shop though.

Halseys is a very special shop. YOu can buy everything from locally grown fruit and veg to different delicacies from around the world.
Every weekend you can buy a hot roast roll, usually pork with lashings of apple sauce, or you can sit in the little tea room and have fab tea and cake

This is the type of shop that makes Hitchin unique. Halsey's opened a few years ago as a delicatessan on the market square and over the past year or so they have opened a cafe. They also now sell locally produced, organic fruit and vegetables. The smell of the Spit Roast Pork is apparent as one strolls past and can't help but stop an place an order. The cafe is well equipped with an extremley exciting menu from home made beans on toast to home made quiche and salad - both of which are delicious. The staff always have smiles on their faces and are a pleasure to do business with.

For any of you foddies out there, this is the place to go. They have a great selection of meats, cheeses, pickles, and all the usual deli items.
But the best bit about this place is their cafe. It is quite small, and very popular so there is often a queue for a seat. However, it is well worth the wait. Their hot meat sandwiches are to die for, and at around £3.50 won't break the bank. They are served with a side salad and homestyle crisps, so it is like a proper meal. I also love their posh ceese on toast, which is melted Brie, on thick slices of breadyummy. Even their coffees are great.
