Always visit when up from Wales, great set up, friendly staff and guests. Warm fire to enjoy a hot drink on a cold day. If you can make time to visit time well spent.

We witnessed on the 22nd December 2021 a young gent, who was shooting on the last but one stand with a nine shot auto with an extension tube. He `loaded up` and proceeded to shoot nine driven targets!
I spoke to the gent in question, and advised him that a nine shot was not acceptable on a clay shooting ground. He did advise me he had a Fire Arms Certificate and that he would sleeve the gun and not use it again. What a relief?
Spoke to the two instructors in the clubhouse regarding this, and advised that they should have a safety officer on the shooting ground at all times, patrolling.

Traveled 70 miles to shoot here today and can honestly say the best ground I’ve ever visited. Amazing targets and just a really good day shooting. If only I lived closer I would get a membership and shoot this ground all the time. Thank you to all the staff hopefully be back soon

I was new to shooting and in the beginning booked a family two hour lesson . All I can say is that Steve our instructor was absolutely fantastic.
Firstly going through the basics of gun handling , then taking us up on to the training ground which myself and my family thoroughly enjoyed.
Since then I have been every week under the instruction of Steve until my licence came through. I have learnt so much from Steve and have also gained certificates and valuable tuition. I am still shooting regularly with Steve and enjoy the whole experience. I would recommend anyone wanting to take up the sport

I understand that anywhere can have an off day.however the review below (Triston) doesn't even sound like the same place that i have been to. We have been fairly frequently, before and after the new clubhouse, and have always found the complete opposite to be true.exceptionally friendly staff and customers too.cafe always open and reasonably priced.keep it up thimbelby!

Great clay ground. Welcoming atmosphere, great clubhouse with plenty of facilities.
I enjoy it every time I go, so much so I'm an annual member now which I recommend anyone who attends 2-3 times per month does as it's well worth the money.

Nice set up, but a poor experience today. Was hoping to make it a regular place to practice, can't see that being possible given the carry on. Check what you've booked vs what they want to deliver. Real shame, it would have been ideal.

I haven't shot at Thimbleby since the new club house opened and judging by the other reviews it's very nice - unfortunately I'm unable to comment on that. I booked a slot a week in advance, but on arrival it was impossible to get parked (cars/ trucks littered everywhere and abandoned down the access track). It's particularly disappointing as I had arranged child care and wasted my morning driving there and back.

An unbelievably good shooting ground.
The entire experience here was great. It shows that a big investment has been made into the ground - and will definitely bring us back, even despite the travel time. The targets, the variety, the upkeep of the ground, even down to the cafe, and the decor inside the clubhouse was second to none. The customer… service also exceptional, from front of houseD and the young lads in the cafe.
No expense spared, and is probably one of, if not the best ground I’ve visited in the country. The great value price of clays, for members and non-members is a complete

Our first time at Thimbelby and it certainly won’t be our last. The staff were informative and nothing was to much, the shoot it’s self was challenging without being Olympic standard and the food in the restaurant was first class, what’s not to like.

Came for our first proper lesson and could not have been made to feel more comfortable. Stephen explained the basic theory in a way a new shooter could understand and made the lesson very fun and engaging. Jo on the desk was extremely welcoming and when I had enquired to book contacted me very quickly to arrange the lesson. Clubhouse also looks fantastic. Can't wait to get back for another lesson.

I hate to only give this club 2 stars, it has the potential to be a great club. I have visited several times now and there seem to be two things letting it down. The first is that there seems to be a large amount of no birds every time I have gone and has been up to 15%, not sure if it is the clays use or the traps. The second is the staff, I have met four so far and only one was polite, she couldn't be more helpful, the other 3 were just rude, the young guy behind the desk really couldn't be bothered and then there was the manager and his chauffeur, both were very rude when communicating and barked

I have been back to Thimbleby on a number of occasions. I enjoyed it that much I've now become a member. Keep up the good work.
