Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre (KMC), based in Brighton, is a special place of tranquility, rest and reflection. Bodhisattva KMC is part of the New Kadampa Tradition, the International Kadampa Buddhist Union, and is home to an international Kadampa Buddhist community who share a wish to make their lives meaningful by finding lasting peace and happiness from within and helping others to do the same.

The Meditation Centre is open to the public and offers a variety of meditation & mindfulness classes, in depth Buddhist study programmes, day courses, and weekend meditation retreats that are suitable for beginners and more experienced meditators. For those attending our weekend courses, we also offer comfortable single, twin, and dormitory accommodation.
Services
Our mind has incredible power to imagine and create things or to envision and bring about a better world. But it can also get stuck in the same mental patterns or just not being able to simply relax and feel at peace. Meditation is a tool that we can all use to transform our mind, from confusion to clarity, from doubt to confidence, from mental tension to radiance and joy.
Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Thekchen, is a senior meditation teacher in the New Kadampa Tradition. He has been a Buddhist monk and teacher for over 23 years, having taught in many Centres in the UK and Canada. He presents Buddha's teachings in a practical and often humorous way that enables the listener to easily understand the teachings and put them into practise.
The classes are organised as short courses, usually from 3-7 weeks long. You can attend the whole course or simply drop in whenever you can as each class is self-contained. Beautiful people at Bodhisattva KMC. Thank you so much for the beautiful week that I have spent here. Being here makes me realise that we indeed are beings of light rediscovering our way home!
Here are some common questions that people ask about our meditation classes. If you have any other questions please contact us and we will be happy to help you in anyway. A: Weekly meditation classes mainly take place in the evening although we do run several lunchtime meditation classes. Bodhisattva Centre now runs weekly classes at approximately 7 venues around the South East of England.
Whilst continuing to stream, we are working to re-open the centre to allow in-person attendance to some classes in the safest way possible. This will take us time and our startup will be a rolling start. We will send out messages with any updates as we have them. Please be sure you are on our emailing list to receive the updates.

I love this place and have been going here for years. I went here in labour as it was the place of calm I needed to be just before having my daughter.
2 days later I took my daughter to meditation in my arms and took her to mum/baby meditation then kids meditation-can't get enough of the place.
The negative review of the place..it seems as though this person needs to work on him/herself a lot and understand about how Buddhism can help to alleviate stress in the modern day.
The Buddhist centre is a place of calm, not a business and not a place for lots of negativity and stress. Maybe Buddha has

Excellent place to learn how to meditate and gain understandings of Buddhist Philosophy which are so helpful in solving the problems of daily life. Great place to do a retreat with accommodation options, relaxed environment with two meditation rooms, world peace Cafe. The teachers are also so welcoming and receptive to everyone of all walks of life.

Seems it is poorly run. Tried to get answers to questions re the retreats for start of year, and woman on phone was constantly answering questions I had not asked her, it would help if she actually listened?? Seems the office is not managed properly re the organisation and answering emails means a long wait.
Even when questions written down, still they didn't seem to understand what was being asked of them?
Poor basic management and inability to problem solve and find a solution for a potential customer...
could do with better organisation especially around retreats and finding solutions.

Have been going to Bodhisattva centre for courses for years and have always enjoyed staying in this little pocket of peace and harmony in the middle of Brighton with all its attractions. Have taken family to visit and they have loved the peaceful atmosphere and lovely cafe and gardens. Would recommend to anyone for a visit. For beginners the half day workshops are great.

I attended a mediation retreat here. It was wonderful. The mediation room was very peaceful. I found these surroundings really helped my concentration. The mediation retreat was focused on a Buddha of compassion called Avalokiteshvara. It was a fantastic experience that I would recommend everyone to try.

I recommend this place its large and airy..whereas the Titchborne Street Centre is often overcrowded. There always seems to be enough space. The rooms are like a proper Buddhist C and as part of the Western Order , in keeping. The charges are very fair because they are not a money making organization. You can take as much as you like from it or as little. There is no pressure to join in anything, if you don;t want to. The lecturers are funny and informative. Thought provoking and make an interesting contrast to the meditation itself. Of course meditation is repetitive by nature..and it takes times
